Description

A below average wheat ale. Not too bad, but has a sharp taste and a bland mouthfeel. But the yeast contribution is nice. Friends and Beer Odessa

Some clear flaws, cloudy and has that weird astringent homebrew taste to it. Clearly made with dry yeast, and not fermented perfectly. Troubadour Odessa

A nice dark heartier version of a porter. Pretty classic for the style, nice balanced malt bill and low bitterness. Toubadour Odessa

Bottle. Opaque deep brown to black. Small and well-lacing beige head. Aroma: rich malts, fruity esters, chocolate, distant alcohol. Medium minus body. Soft carbonation. Smooth texture. Taste: lightly sweet with notes of dark chocolate, roast, further coffee and earth. Light plus bitterness. Absolutely OK.

On tap at Friends & Beer, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, earthy hops, and light bitter cocoa. Flavour is bitter and somewhat tart, with Belgian yeast, light esters, burnt malt and a touch of cocoa. This is not dialed in properly. Too sour and a bit phenolic. Not great.

On tap at Troubadour, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, some light phenols and a hint of dark cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with light cocoa, toasted malt and some light burnt rubber. A little flawed, but it's not too bad. Decent.

On tap at Troubadour, pours a cloudy amber red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out light earthy hops, with light resins and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with resinous hops, caramel malt and some bready notes. A very malty IPA, but it's pretty good.

On tap at Troubadour, pours a cloudy dark amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out light bready hops, not much else. Flavour is along the same lines, with bready malt, a subtle hoppiness to it and a touch of caramel. Much more subdued than the Chapeau. It's okay - just boring.
