Description
Stiegl is a private brewery with a long tradition. For more than 525 years, sustainability, regionality, local added value and above all the quality of our beers and services have been our top priority. However, this quality is only possible because we only use the best local raw materials. The values to which we have been committed since the brewery was founded in 1492 have made us Austria's leading private brewery.
The brewery's success is inextricably linked to the name "Kiener". The brewery has been owned by the Kiener family for more than 120 years. Since 1990 Heinrich Dieter Kiener (III) is at the helm of the company.

500ml can from Sainsbury's - cloudy yellow body with a flat top. Artificial grapefruit nose, very tart. Fruity taste, sharp grapefruit and bitter sugary sweets.

750ml bottle picked up from Stiegl Brewery shop, Salzburg and consumed at home Saturday 3rd February 2024 listening to music that Vangelis is selecting, we're in the company of Vangelis, Ele, Alexandros, Achilles, Kosta, Vasso and not forgetting Johnny (dog) Pours light silvery gold with a white head, hazy. I'm not sure of the ingredients list, forgot to check but I suspect some gin type botanicals have made it into this very nice IPA, it's fruity, there is a little bitterness throughout, it is refreshing and a very tasty beer, like it.

Bottle large, 750ml. Picked up from Stiegl Brewery shop, Salzburg and consumed at home Saturday 3rd February 2024 listening to music that Vangelis is selecting, we're in the company of Vangelis, Ele, Alexandros, Achilles, Kosta, Vasso and not forgetting Johnny (dog) Pours mid amber with a mid sized white head. Nice aroma, a very good mix of floral, honey and also light malty elements. Fruity in the mouth with lots of honey, super soft mouthfeel, a little bit of a bite, it's a very good beer.

Bottle (large 750ml) picked up from Stiegl Brewery shop, Salzburg and consumed at home Friday 2nd February 2024 listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music on Independent Music Week. Pours yolky yellow heading towards light orange with a large white head. There is both citrus and a little tropical fruit touch on the nose, however there is a hint of clove. Lovely clean hoppiness comes through in a nice combo with the wheaty underbelly, light prickly across the tongue, again a little citrussy, excellent beer

Bottle picked up from the brewery, Salzburg and consumed at home Wednesday 31st January 2024 listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music and cooking a Sausage Hotpot. Pours hazy yellow with a head that was soon gone. Plenty of grapefruit on the nose and in the mouth, fruity but beer contribution taking a backseat here, this is not an issue as it's a refreshing a decent Radler/shandy.

Bottle picked up from Stiegl Brewery Shop and consumed at home Saturday 27th January 2024 after a lovely loop hike from Bishofmais to Teufeltisch and back, listening to The Smile - Wall of Eyes and cooking Chicken, Pistachio and Black Pepper Curry with a Lime and Coriander Rice. Pours copper in colour with a large creamy bubble white head. A little caramel and biscuit on the nose, there is a freshness here but not convinced that I would have guessed pine. Pleasant sweetness, actually the resinous piney strains do come through on the tongue, there is a nice balance here the maltiness steadies the pine. Very nice.

Bottle picked up from Stiegl Brewery Shop Breda and consumed at home Saturday 27th January 2024 after a lovely loop hike from Bishofmais to Teufeltisch and back, we're listening to The Smile - Wall of Eyes and cooking Chicken, Pistachio and Black Pepper Curry with a Lime and Coriander Rice.. Pours clear light amber with a head that swiftly departed and left no clue of its appearance. A little bit of oomph, malty, warming, light caramel and toffee touches, but it's a bit clinical in terms of delivery, I would have liked a bit more character.
