This pours almost black with nice red highlights. Creamy mocha head and aroma of roast malt, chocolate and a hint of coffee. Feels rich and creamy on the tongue and the flavor is also rich and very chocolatey. Very little bitterness from the roast malt. Nice dessert Stout.

Appearance: medium amber with a small head. Very little smell at all. Taste is kind of a plain, ordinary roasted malt. Not my favorite at all. I think this beer is rather un-pale-ale-like.

Medium amber with a small frothy head. Smells piney & grapefruity- just like an IPA should. Thick, bitter, and strong flavor. Very piney with some citrus in there. A nice beer.

Hey! Isn’t that the Moylan’s label? Quite a different beer, though. Poured red-brown with a medium light tan head. Strong, very toasty raisin/caramel aroma. The flavor began with classic piney/citrusy hops, but developed a very sweet, tangy caramel and raisin malt profile, almost nearing soy and/or honey notes. The sweetness and flavor components are reminiscent of Thomas Hardy’s or J.W. Lee’s barleywines and are unusual for an American version of the style. This barleywine also had a very yeasty, "ozoney" (don’t ask me to translate that) feel. Good barleywine, but not great. Thanks Mike (BBB63) for the sample of this brew.

Draft. This is a beautiful looking dark reddish-gold colored beer with a great lasting white head. Big floral hop aroma keeps up in the taste. Big caramel malt backbone with huge floral hop taste with some pine and citrus. Citrus hop aftertaste and finishes dry. Very good.

Draft. Amber color with little head. Aroma has slight citrus hops. Taste shows lots on pine tar and citrus with a moderate toffee malt backbone. Slight off-taste in the finish, but otherwise dry with a hop lingering.

Hazy orange colour with a nice soapy white head. Super potent peach aroma mixed with malt and plentiful sugars-very nice! Light-bodied; Watery taste with a sour peach flavour and not much else. Aftertaste only shows a lingering fruityness-hardly and stronger flavours. Overall, an alright fruit beer, just lacking a bunch of flavours. Worth trying if you can find it! I bought this 65 cL bottle at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors and shared it with great friend JonR888710 (Jon) on 29-November-2003.

For this review, I will do a comparison. Very full aroma of deep resiny hops, much stickier and sweeter than the sharper pine of DFH 90 minute (my comparator to this beer). Not as in your face and sniffable but still up there. Pours a clear red-orange peachy color, where is the haziness???. Good amount of yellow-orange head that disappears moderately quickly. Lots of lacing. Seemingly similar to DFH 90 minute at first, to my palate which has limited Double IPA experience. Very hoppy, lots of sweet grapefruit, with an equally substantial caramel malt which balances it well. Pros: gone is the piney acidic flavor on the finish that detracts from DFH 90 minute. Cons: Not as complex. Malt flavor is quite one-sided, though tasty. Hops flavor is. . .well. . .hoppy. Not as much pine/citrus/herbal floral variation as DFH. It does have a nice earthy/dirty flavor in there, finish dries out and is slightly butter toffeeish due to the hops/malt interchange. Different but solid.

Dark in colour, semi-opaque. White head which dissolves quickly. Hoppy, hoppy smell...which bodes well for me...an avid hop-head. A definate hoppy taste with good carbonateion. Great overall IPA with a long-lasting aftertaste. Very well done, and not crazy like an Imperial IPA. Back for a weekend at home (in Washington, D.C.), I was pleasantly surprised to see this at Whole Foods on 123 in Vienna, Virgina. I can't imagine finding this anywhere else but the west coast, but if you live in Washington, and are a big IPA fan, DEFINATELY try this!

Cloudy amber; Pleasant hop aroma; harsh hops on the palate, astringency, little malt. Maybe not at its best, but not gone off far enough to know for sure. Need another bottle.
