Description

Real brewery address: Schwendener Str. 18, 87616 Marktoberdorf. The official address is only the office of administration.

Bottle. Strong molasses malt aroma. Medium orange brown color - cloudy with small head. Sweet-tart malt aroma - very light banana and orange flavor. A bit stronger than the average dunkelweizen.

Bottle. Strong coffee/chocolate malt aroma with hints of dried fruit. Medium brown with small head. Sweet raisin flavor initially with a mild coffee finish. Not as much body as some doppelbocks but enjoyable and easy to drink. Those who like the typical astringency of this style will probably not enjoy this as much.

Bottle. Sweet caramel flavor with noticeable tannins. Golden yellow - small head with slight effervescence. Sweet syrupy malt flavor with moderate astringent finish. A decent bock but nothing to set it apart.

Bottle. Yeast, malt, banana, apple aroma Orange yellow color - cloudy with small head. A well blended mixture of wheat malt and banana/clove. A bit watery. Nicely drinkable but could use a more intense flavor.

(Bottle 50 cl) Comes in a pretty swing-top bottle. Immensely, classical Babarian Hefeweizen. Hazy, golden with soft wheaty touches and a fresh citrusy adge. 120100

Bottle: Hazy golden colour. Long lasting white big head. Malty and bready aroma, with some hoppy smell too. Has a thin taste, also a bit sweet and malty. Very little bitterness in the aftertaste. A easy drinking beer. Nothing else

It’s the second best out of the four Hefes I tried. Well, obviously I haven’t tried many, but I still like the style. This one had the usual cloudy orange going yellow look, with suprisingly lively carbonation in the start, which subsided soon, and with a small white head. The lemon and cloves are dominant in the nose, and lemon continues to be the predominant taste, with some restrained cloves and banana. It’s sour, but acceptably so. And very refreshing. I think it’s bottle conditioned, and had quite a lot of "muck" in the bottom. The bottle had the resealable cork. Not ceramic as in Wieselburger Stämbrau, but it’s as useful as all corks of that kind are. I noted two interesting facts on the label. First, it says it was brewed by their new technology called Ice-Rifing (I have absolutely no idea what that means). And second, it says that it’s brewed by Allgäuer Brauhaus AG, Kempten, Germany. So, has that Marktoberdorf brewery been bought by Allgäuer Brauhaus, or is it brewed under license, or is it simply a case of name change and relocation.

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a big white head. Yeast and wheat aroma. Citrus, yeast, wheat flavors and a slightly sour tang at first. Medium body. I just wish it has some spice elements. I couldn’t find them here and it made for a more boring beer.

Deep chestnut color with a quickly fading off white head. Aroma is slightly sour, smoky and spicy. A slightly sour palate with a chalky dry finish that’s out of place. Drinkable but disappointing.
