Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small frothy light tan head that last awhile leaving sticky lacing. Not much on the nose but sweet malt. Medium mouthfeel a sweet chocolate and nuts with a light bitter finish. Easy to drink, a good schwarzbier.

355 ml bottle at The Grill from Ipanema in Washington, DC. Deep golden color, medium white head, moderate lacing. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is very malty, but nicely balanced bitterness. Dryish finish. A decent lager, worth trying again.

Very sub par lager. Pale yellow pour in glass. Nose and taste of slight resins, lots of malt water and not much else. Rated 2/22/03

355 ml bottle. Dark brown body with quickly fading tan head. Flavour is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate and sweet.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours black opaque with dark brown highlights and small brown head. Taste is sweet malt (light chocolate and some molasses), and a hint of smoke. A little complexity and silky smooth texture. Taste is great, this is a regular for me.

Bottle. Poured clear pale straw with no head. Very little aroma: slightly sweet (corn) and a hint possibly of hops. Palate is light and frothy. Taste is thin and watery, mainly corn / graoin with a hint maybe of lemon and some hoppy bitterness in the finish. Not good, but refreshing and easy drinking.

12oz bottle-pours a tight light brown head with trailing lace and black color. Aroma is earthy, dark malt-chocolate. Taste is earthy hops/dusty, dark malt-chocolate. Initially seems thin, then becomes smooth, medium body.

1st August 2008. Opaque black brown beer. Very light and crisp. Very minerally with just an undertone of malt. Light finish and a light beer. Refreshing and a little different.

I had not seen this beer since back in my early days of rating so it was nice to come across it again. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small dark brown head that faded quickly. The aroma was fruity and malty with a touch of cherry and a anise. The flavor was ripe cherry, roasty malts, a touch of molasses, caramel and vanilla. The finish was long with malt and cherry. Medium body. Nice.
