Bottle at home. Slightly hazy brown amber with offwhite head. Sweet smoked caramel dipped bacon, bready grain, liquid hotdogs, earthy brown leathery skins of Danish bogbodies, fish scales and ditch water, black seaweed, lapsang souchoung tea, dark honey, butterscotch and Tiger's Eye gem stones. Moderate sweet, bitter and the thing called umami. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well done! Very true to the Schlenkerla Gods. Now icebock the shit out of it! In the long finish the aroma dives and dips into wateriness. I think it could use a slightly heavier/ more syruppy malt body and slightly more intense aroma or abv boost, or a touch more sweetness maybe. Very very nice though.

Bottle. Color: In between amber and copper, thin off-white head. Aroma: Smoked bacon. Taste: Moderate sweet malt with strong notes of smoke and salty bacon, hints of caramel. Light hopbitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. As a lover of smoked beers, I think this one is very likable.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee, licorice, caramel and yeast. Taste has lots of chocolate malt, some roast, mild smoke, coffee, licorice and some tarr-ish yeast. I would call this a stout. Not bad though.

(Bottle, De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 22 Feb 2018) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, mint and pine needles. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit, pine needles, a touch of mint and a generous piney, citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, mainly dry. Tasty and well made black IPA. Very nice.

33cl Bottle at Kloek Vredenburg. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is quite sweet, not very hoppy, coffee with milk and sugar, roasted malts, chocolate. Flavour follows, yeasty, a bit watery. Light to medium bodied. Not great tbh.

Bottle at home. Black with light tan head. Sweet toasted chocolate malts, coffee, dark chocolate, very fruity, berries, moccha, cherry pie, charcoal. Sweet and bitter, with soft vanilla edge. Bottle thanks to Benzai @ Secret Santa. Thanks for the style tick. Dark orange with a tall, foamy head that lingers. Aroma is a citrus & caramel mix, hints of pine. Taste is quite fitting to the name of the style—mild. A low key bittersweet note dominates from start to end. A mild hop bitterness is noticeable at the finish. Quite sessionable. A nice introduction to the style.

0.33l bottle from the local european swap, thanks maakun. pours a hazy deep amber with a big beige head which breaks down into islands. aroma of citrusy hops, toffee, slight funk. flavour of grapefruit zest, funk, chewed pencil. light body, bordering with watery. some woody bitterness in the finish.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Hazy dark brown with a short-lived off-white head. Caramel aroma, dark fruits and some American hops. Taste is rather sweet at first but then the chili's kick in, turning drinking this in quite an ordeal. It's not undrinkable, to me at least, but the burn is most present. Certainly an interesting beer but one bottle is more than enough for a lifetime.
