Description
Une Anneé, an Independent Craft Brewery, was born, in 2013, on the near west side of Chicago, with the quest of making fine Belgian inspired ales for all beer lovers. Founded by architect and Chicago native, Jerry Nelson, Une Anneé, has expanded it’s offerings over the years with an emphasis on fruited and unfruited American Wile Ales and Barrel Aged Stouts. In 2017, the brewery moved to neighboring Chicago suburb, Niles, IL and expanded to include a taproom. The working brewery in the background lends a hand to creating a laid back atmosphere where you can sit back and enjoy some of your favorite craft beers on tap.

Draft at Monk’s Pub. Puffy Belgian head. Body is a quite cloudy gold. English IPA smell, rather low-key against its warm maltiness. First taste shows its creamy texture, like it might have come from nitro. Low level of carbonation. Hop bitterness is up front, but still not too strong. As I go further down, though, the hops pick up speed. Some yeast taste too, especially toward the finish.

Draft pour on tap at Goose Island’s Belgian Fest 2013. This was the first beer I got because I was very interested in this new brewery. Pour is very hazy pale golden color with a small but long lasting head. Has a sticky lacing. Too hazy to see through. Aroma is bright clean esters with sharp apple and pear. Some uncitric lemon as well. Nice combo of yeast esters and a but of fruity hops coming though. Flavor has a bit more biscuit malt coming though with more clean esters. A mineral flavor finishes off to balance things out. Fuller mouthfeel with a good carbonation. Real nice stuff.
