Description
Privately owned since 1809, the Ochsenfurter Kauzen-Bräu stands for traditional Franconian brewing culture. The brewery was not always called Kauzen Bräu. It was not until 1974 that the Ochsenfurt monastery brewery was renamed the Kauzen Brewery.

Nice hops aroma. Dark yellow color wtih good head. Full hops flavor with just a hint of sweetness (apricot/peach). Full palate. A very good pilsener.

Very nice banana aroma - very slight hint of cloves. Slightly cloudy appearance (mine had large chunks of yeast floating in it - should have swirled it more). Quite a bit of carbonation - clean tasting but that’s not what I want in a Weizen - banana flavor is very subtle - had to concentrate to even taste it. Palate also not as ful as I like in a Weizen. Good beer but not much character.

Has a spectacular aroma - bananas with a hint of apples and cloves - I could almost be satisfied just smelling this beer. Less head than many Weizens. Quite a bit of carbonation. A mild flavor - subtle fruit flavor (banana doesn’t come out as much in the taste). This is an excellent Weizen. Excellent taste without being overpowering. / Revisit 6-27-25 Cloudy golden yellow with nice head. Banana, clove, orange, apple, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Moderately sweet banana, orange, clove, wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Good body. Damn, I miss living in Unterfranken.

A nice German Pilsener beer. Has a nice balanced hop flavour (not too bitter) and a good beer flavour. May be a bit light for those who prefer a stronger beer taste.
