Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

After 3250 ratings, this is my second Berliner Weisse. Very pale hazy yellow color, not much head. Rubbery, wheaty nose. Sourish, fruity, lemony flavor - good nice nip there. Wheaty notes in the aftertaste. Tasty example of this difficult style.

Bottle, 5.0%. Clear golden colour, big white head. The flavour is slightly sweet, not dry at all. Rather anonymous, but OK.

Bottle, 4.6%. Old bready aroma. Clear pale yellow colour. Big white head. The flavour is better than the aroma. Nicely citric with a little malt. Only a hint of sewer.

Bottle, 5.0%. Slightly citric, but OK aroma. Clear golden colour, small white head. Full flavour with a strangely rough, but not very bitter finish.Quite close to a Danish standard pils, perhaps a bit cleaner.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear green (sic!) with a small, light green head. Aroma is pure marzipan. Light-bodied with a marzipan sweetness and an underlying tartness. Very special but not absolutely horrendous. Thanks to Elisabeth for this. 151206

Deep ruby coloured, big fluffy stable tanned head; malty, but mainly metallic cardboardy nose; mild bitter-sweet flavour, very light bodied, fizzy MF; watery, bitter-malty finish with a metallic tinge. Ooops, never again.........

Test vom 11.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,11,10,12,12,12 - 11,35
