Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Bottle at Kookfest 06. My last style I need. Pale gold, thin white head. Sour aroma, lemon, bit of farmyard. Very sour in mouth, bit more lemon. Sour finish. Bit one dimensional, but overall pretty nice.

A hazy orange beer with a fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with quite a lot of wheat, but also a slight acidity. The flavor is acidicly fresh with notes of grapefruit. The acidity draws out some mouthwater. But it also has light notes of wheat. A very refreshing beer.

A yellow beer with a beige head. The aroma has strong notes of straw and lesser notes of hops. The flavor is malty with an OK amount of hops, combined with notes of straw, but the body is thin.

Test vom 29.7.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,9,9,9,11,9 - 9,30

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, pale pilsener golden with a small, white head. Aroma of malt and aroma hops. Medium-bodied, sweetish malty yet with a rather hoppy finish. Not your typical Export. 240706

Bottle White, fizzy head which diminishes totally. Hazy, yellow body. Sourish aroma of citrus (lemon, orange peels). Moderatelv acidic, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. Looks like a mixture between a nice gueuze and a good Belgian White. But it’s not so convincing, due to a little bit weakiness. Sure the nice characteristics are not at all blown away by this last remark.

This is the first Berliner Weisse that I have encountered. Sampled from an 11.1 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a small white head that fades quickly. The aroma is tart, tangy and bitter. The flavor very tart, rather bitter and almost vinegary. There is a medium mouthfeel and a very tart and dry finish. There is also a bit of a yeasty element on the finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a handsome, clear mahogany brown with a warm, reddish hue. Off-white head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt. Solid and full body with a shipload of sweetish, roasted malt and some molasses accents. This is almost fluid candy. Very subdued bitterness. A classical Doppelbocvk. 070706
