Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Thnx to Tim. Pours very clear blonde, small white head fades fast. Smell has light skunk. Bit dusty, taste is bit chemical, bitter, skunk. Too intense on the skunk to enjoy, actually.

Sampled from 0.5 l can from local 'LIDL', best before June 2019. Clear, golden with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly grassy-spicy aroma of grains and some straw. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently grassy-spicy taste of grains and some straw, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy-spicy, a bit musty and a little metallic finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very bland and even a little off, just far from great.

33 cl bottle purchased at REWE. Hazy, amber red colour with a fizzy white head. Sweet aroma with artifical rhubarb, lactic notes and dry lemon. Taste is sweet. Light bodied. Sweet finish with rhubarb. Not as horrible as the green 'waldmeister'. Yet very sweet for a Berliner Weisse.

50 cl bottle from REWE. Hazy, pale golden colour with a fast fading white head. Sweet aroma with lemonade and a grassy bitterness, some earthy notes as well. Taste is sweet. Light bodied with a fizzy carbonation. Sweet finish with artificial citrus. Ok Radler, I like that you actually can taste the base beer.

Pours a clean light-golden colour with a big frothy white cap, very long lasting with lots of thick creamy lace. Pils malt aromas with some light cereal sweetness. The hops really show more in the taste with a pretty big bite in the finish. Yes, very bitter and dry. Cereal notes again with the grassy hops over the sweet notes. Metallic hints. Other than that, a pretty bitter Pilsner. One would think this is American.
