Description
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

Can at the Martin T tasting, CBC, 06/06/13 apologies from myself for supplying this rare US golden blonde drivel! Clear pale golden with a decent sized frothy white head. Nose is pale malts, grass, orange, light vegetal notes. Taste comprises citrus, grass, orange sherbet, pale malt, pretty weak. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, very light bitterness in the finish. Pretty dull.

Crisp, super hazy golden coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall just off-white head that leaves a nice, slightly soapy lace. Aroma of bright grapefruity and pine hop smells, some light sugars, a bunch of yeast, a good dose of malt and a nice sticky resin smell at the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy, herbal and piney hops show up front with a good malt backbone, some slight peach and apricot flavours and a smooth yeast and bready finish. Aftertaste has a smattering of hops with a great balance of malt and an assertive but not pungent or overpowering hop flavour. Overall, a very nice IPA with a solid flavour profile, a great balance and enough of the PNW hop style to be one of the better examples of an IPA that i’ve had in a long while. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Portland (Pearl), Oregon on 27-April-2013 for US$3.99 sampled at home in Washington on 21-June-2013.

Tin. Pale gold with almost no head. Aroma is sweet lemon, with a bit of grass. Sweet lemon meringue flavour, in the centre of the tongue. Small tart finish. Not a keeper

Bomber thanks to Mike, this was nice. Pours a reddish hue with a medium white head. A big nose of caramel and light fruity hops. In terms of the flavor it was more caramel and biscuit malt than hops, but light bitterness, some dusty fruit. Very nice, smooth.

Thanks to the Boise crew. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A nice citrus and caramel nose. The flavor is very smooth: caramel, oranges, light lemons, earthy. Very drinkable.

Strong hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thin, fast-dying white head. Aroma of tons of bright hops, citrus, grapefruit, pine, resin and bunches more hops - plus some malt and alcohol along with a bunch of sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hop notes with grapefruit, honey and pine with a lot of alcohol and malt as well - nice and fruity. Aftertaste shows a lot of bitterness, naturally, with a lot of alcohol, pine, grapefruit and some good apricot and pear flavours. Overall, a very nice imperial ipa with tons of hop notes and even more malt and alcohol - all with great complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased a few minutes ago at Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon for US$5.50 sampled in my hotel room here in Portland on 12-April-2013.

Draught. Black with thick beige head, due to its being a Nitro pour. Faint but pleasant malt aroma. Flavour is better, chocolate and malt barley. Roast character. Light finish. A springtime stout
