Description
Originally the Sailerbrauerei was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1544. After a long history 1967 is considered to be the decisive point in the history of the brewery. In that year the master brewer Gerd Borges and his then wife Gertrud, née. Sailer took over the management of the brewery and made the brewery a great success. After 36 years Borges decided to sell the enterprise. Since 2003 Sailerbräu and the brand Altenmünster Brauer Biere became through the Allgäuer Brauhaus part of the Radeberger Gruppe.

500 ml bottle. A bit dim golden body with a fine, big, creamy white head. Clean aroma of malt and grain. Flavor is sweet and distinct malt with a certain degree of bitterness, not much but in balance. Finish end of more dry. Tasty and refreshing, nice beer.

It’s a good doppelbock with an interesting blend of spices, hops and malt. The malt is strong and thick, nice and proper for a doppelbock. There’s a little bit too much alcohol flavor. It’s not bad, but it could be a bit more warming and less vodka. The nose is pretty good. There are some earthy metallic hops. The flavors are honey, chocolate, spicy, caramel and earthy hops. The feel is pretty good, but it’s not exceptional, like some of the top doppelbocks.

Bottle. As "Altenmunster Hefe-Weissbier". Cloudy dark orange beer with a big white frothy head. Yeasty aroma of clove, a bit of banana, bready notes and some more fruits. Sweet fruity wheaty flavor with light acidic tones. Medium-bodied with a fluffy mouthfeel. Refreshing.

500ml bottle. Super-hazy orange-brown color with a massive tan-tinted head. Yeasty floral aroma, with a hint of alcohol-laced pungency. After the first sip I’d assume this one has been sitting in a warehouse for eons, devolved and lacking decent carbonation in the mouthfeel. Sweet and sugary, with some solid earthy, bocky yeastiness. There is an odd semblance of quality, it just seems way devolved. A little too strong for it’s own good, the sweetness is almost overbearing. Proof that Maibocks werent meant to be aged, only an MB super-enthusiast could really love this.

Big offwhite coarseish head. Yellow body with carbonation. Malty floral aroma with earthy notes. Dry earthy grassy taste with mineral straw notes. Mid-bodied. Vaguely fatty mouthfeel. Dryish watery straw and grain aftertaste with floral notes. Not very special. (0.5l bottle, getränkemarkt, Leipzig.)
