Description
Originally the Sailerbrauerei was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1544. After a long history 1967 is considered to be the decisive point in the history of the brewery. In that year the master brewer Gerd Borges and his then wife Gertrud, née. Sailer took over the management of the brewery and made the brewery a great success. After 36 years Borges decided to sell the enterprise. Since 2003 Sailerbräu and the brand Altenmünster Brauer Biere became through the Allgäuer Brauhaus part of the Radeberger Gruppe.

Bottle. Bready, dusty aroma, hint of aroma hops. Dark golden colour, semi-stable head. Flavour is a little boring with a slightly harsh aftertaste. Good mouthfeel.

Sehr malziger, schwerer Geruch. Schaumkrone hält mittellang. Im Geschmack erkennt man durchweg das malzige, maßgebende Aroma. Außerdem ist dies ein verdammt würziges Bier, gleichzeitig ist es im Nachgeschmack süßlich und recht süffig. Test vom 15.11.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,11,11,9,11,11 - 10,60

A light orange beer with a white head. The aroma is simply malty sweet. The flavor is also sweet malty leading to a dry end. OK - but very simple.

500 ml swingtop bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and bakery, some fruity hops too. Malty flavour with caramel and bready notes, not very sweet, spicy and fairly hoppy bitter finish. Dusty aftertaste. Okay.

A yellow beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of straw. The flavor is also malty with a light hop presence giving it a dry end.

Good looking beer, very pale yellow with a decent white head. Almost no aroma, did I perceive a bit of hops maybe?? Flavor and palate are thin and watery, little flavor of any kind. Just a refreshing water substitute.

(engraved swing top bottle) Dark amber colour with a foamy off-white medium head. Dense toasted malty nose with a shy hoppy note. Light bitter flavour, medium to light bodied, lively carbonated. Roastmalty taste with a minimum of sweetness, hopbitter, slightly spicy and dry finish with medium length. Definitely not an outstanding brew, as it suggests being a seasonal Winterbier. I miss more alcohol and body for the winter warming effect.

(special shape swing top bottle with handle) Dark amber colour with a foamy off-white medium head. I´ve suspected this one to be the same as the Winterbier Dunkel, but it is a tad sweeter and has more body. Slightly sweet toastmalty and nutty aroma with a whiff of hops. Bittersweet flavour, medium body, moderate carbonation. Light sweet and breadish malty taste, slightly roasted, dry and light hopbitter finish with a touch of dried fruits (raisins). OK.

Bottled 0,5 ltr flip-top (BB 10/2005)
I’m not sure if this is the one as bottle just said "Altenmünster" but as ABV 4.9% and ratings match so I’ll rate this here.
Hazy yellow, good big foamy head, lace. Fruity, lemony hoppy nose. Medium-bodied, malty, balanced lager with fruity hoppy finish. Just too much sweet bread here to be enjoyable.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pale, clear yellow colour with a decent - if quickly collapsing - head. Very citrusy aroma, but nicely balanced between the beer’s bitterness and the sweetness from the lemonade. And fortunately the artificial sweeteners doesn’t add any unpleasant tang. A nice quencher on a hot summer’s day. 021001
