Bottle @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours a hazy orange color with a white head. Hoppy grapefruit aroma with some hints of pine. Sweet malty and very bitter hoppy and slightly harsh flavor with grapefruit hints. Malty bitter finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. The aroma(s) is(are) chocolate, dark roasted malt, and coffee. The color is (even under halogen) opaque brown/black. Hardly any hilites. The tan head left quickly, but tilting the snifter reveals pinpoint lacing. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, and it turns creamy as the carbonation leaves. The flavor is dark, near tarry, roasted malt, and suggestive of espresso that’s a bit too long in the cup. That’s not a bad thing, just really strong flavor. The finish is bitter chocolate, burnt malt, and something that stings the tongue. It does mellow into something resembling the original Guinness. Quite the experience. If there is an imperial stout category based on flavor, rather than alcohol, this has to be in it. Breakfast? What a great idea.

Clear dark brown body with a small creamy light brown head. Sweet molassas and caramel aroma with some chocolate hints. Sweet creamy caramel and molassas flavor with some light chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of coffee.

Cloudy golden colour. Toasty with light notes of lime/kaffir lime leaf. Bland taste, with hints of sea breeze and bread in the fresh malts, but sadly not so many hints of hops.

Pours clear copper until the sediment dropped into the glass. Now the copper has a hazy orange hue to go along with a thin off white head. There’s still sediment sludge left behind in the bottle. The aroma has sharp citrus hop notes with grapefruit juice bitterness being the main one followed by tangelo and a hint of sweet orange juice. I can just smell a vague malt sweetness too. The taste has several levels and varieties of citrus hops just like the nose. Initially I get sweet orange juice followed by a tart grapefruit and then tangelo hop bitterness. Very nice. There’s also a hint of malt behind all of the hops.

Bottle Pours a fairly clear amber with a small off white head. Modest hop aroma for a double. Nice hefty malt body and fairly balanced with a bit of alcohol in the flavor. Just not very "Double"

Shorter than usual brown 12 oz bottle with a twist off cap, reminds me of Seirra Nevada. Twist off the lid in a manly manner and you get a whiff of uncooked bread dough and maybe even rootbeer. When I pour it into the glass I think there is some malty roastyness. Color is hazy brownish and I am surprised to find some sludge in the bottom of the bottle, must be unfiltered. When I swirl the last bit of brew, like wit, before I pour it into the glass, pretty large bits (1/8 to 1/4 inch) come loose and go into the glass, wow! Has a bitter bite when you first taste it, malty but not hops as far as I can tell. I know that the label says its hopped but I can’t really find the hops. There is no citrus or grapefruit rind flavor that can be detected. Mind you, it is not really stoutlike or heavy porter but it does have a definable bitterness that is not hops. Carbonation is medium low. Finish leaves a lingering medium bitterness on the back of your throat. This brew does not overpower my taste buds but it is oppressive in it’s own way. Not as good as Groelsch Amber or Redhook Copperhook but just a little better than Hereford & Hops Hop Rocket Ale, Otter Creek Copper Ale, and Thirsty Dog Hoppus Maximus. Those beers are more hoppy than this. Overall a decent entry into the darker beer arena. On par with Great Divide Ridgeline but ridgeline has much better carbonation.

Bottle Poures a medium coper with a nice off white head. Lots of malty aroma and little citrusy hops. Flavor is a bit more bitter but still the woody, slightlky sweet malts are forfront. Active carbonation and a mild bitterness with some papery trailer. Not bad.

12oz Bottle Pours out a nive black topped with a tan head. Great aroma of sweet chocolate and nice roast. Sweet tast, but not as thick as I wanted it to be. Not to bad.
