An interesting combination of scotch ale and porter - it has all the best of both styles - the smokey, roasty notes of the peat smoked malt compliment the hearty, chocolate and caramel, porter flavors - nice, mellow carbonation and a medium body make it smooth to drink, but heavy enough to want to take your time with - very nice.

Florally hoppy aroma, smells slightly sweet. Tastes the same, bit finishes bitter. A bit bland, but not bad. Not the best IPA, but certainly not the worst.

Goldenish amber in color, decent head. Smells wonderfully fruitful and florally. taste going in is nice, sweet and fresh, but finishes with a really funky tangy funk, which makes this beer not quite as good. After the first voyage down the pipes, however, the beer isnβt bad... but that first swallow tastes grungy.

Deep ruby highlights shine from this brown beer. Nice lacy mocha colored head. Aroma is peated malt, hops, and toasted marshmallows. Flavor is smooth, rich & smoky. Smoky sweetness with a bitter finish. More smoke. Likeably different.

Draft. Pale hazy golden color with no head. Very fruity - apricots and a little lemon. Some balt, a lightly bitter finish, but fruit dominates. Easy drinking.

2003 bottle 9.5 abv. First off, what a color! Almost a purplish burgundy. Drab brown olive. Wow. Good medium dark yellow head, quickly disippating. Smells of lots of fresh hops, background of barley, more barley and some alcohol. Also has a nice light balsamic vinegar hint in the aroma. Slight hint of dark, yet dry fruits. Mouthfeel is smooth, oily and barely carbonated. Big, complex hops body, that is almost full bodied, dry hoppy taste but has a nice medium dry roasted/caramel malt balance. Wonderful ripe prune/plum/concord grape vinous flavor. As hoppy as this is, it still retains a dry, barleyesque flavor reminding me of English barleywines. Very balanced, a touch too hoppy if anything. Moderately complex finish, currants, raisins and more barley and hops. This definitely grew on me 200% from first sip to last. I want more!

Very hazy orange colour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of grapefruity hops, pine and a complete balance of malt. Medium to Light-bodied; Slightly sweet initial taste with a sudden hop bitterness. Aftertaste shows a lot of hops-but fairly mild. Overall, a decent IPA...good for the style and nothing wrong with it at all. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. and sampled it on 20-December-2003.

The head collapsed quickly, the nose is rich of malt and caramel. This beer is very brown and opaque. The taste is nice, nutty, with the malt covering nicely the hops. Nice spicy notes throughout the tasting.

An unclear orange beer with a dense head. The aroma is sweet malty with hop notes. The flavor is malty sweet - but without the expected hoppyness and bitterness. A rather boring IPA - for an IPA lover.

Bottled. Cloudy orange, Restrained flowery grapefruit aroma. Rather sweet and full bodied with soft maltiness and balanced bitterness. Solid.
