Huge, towering dense off-white head; veiled dark orange-golden beer with textbook lace. Very herbal, meaty esters, and a whiff as from wormwood, vegetable frying oil, bit soupy nose. Alcoholic, liqueurish, again vegetable addition flavours - no doubt the hemp. Somewhat toasted. Quite slick, medium bodied at best. Just OK. Txs to Stef!

IPA of 30 IBU by this Walloon contract brewer, mentioning Hildegard von Bingen's early recognition of the benefits of hops on the back label. Opens with a hiss and some 'gun smoke', after which foam starts creeping out of the bottle neck - so be quick to pour it into a glass. Very thick, frothy, tightly cobweb-lacing, off-white, stable head on a hazy ochre-tinged apricot blonde beer. Aroma of withering thyme, old lemon rind, dried orange peel, camomile, wormwood leaves, moist white pepper, white bread, unripe banana, raw pineapple, some peach, hints of grass, bread crust, wet clay, green melon, pear, gypsum, brown soap, cold whole-wheat pasta. Spritzy onset, very minerally, stinging carbonation, fruity notes of unripe banana, green pear and some vague pineapple, restrained in sweetness with a light sourish edge; supple bready maltiness with a sharper grainy edge as well as some oatmeal slickness, a tad soapy, soon bittered by grassy, earthy, peppery hops, adding an old dry citrus peel note as well as hints of dried wormwood, thyme and quinine, drying and crisp, eventually superseded a bit by bready and spicy yeasty accents, yet without losing its focus. Nice hoppy blonde the Belgian way - but Belgian to the extent that calling this a session IPA is stretching things a bit too much for me, also because 5% ABV is not normally considered 'session' anymore in the IPA world. Simple, but nicely dry, green-hoppy and quenching without any true flaws, but missing its own intentions by keeping the hops department too 'noble', earthy and herbal, while a more colourful, citrusy New World hoppiness could really turn this brew into a (still Belgian style!) IPA. Pleasant enough quencher, though, I frankly expected less...
