Thanks to the Slovak crew! Poured a dark amber-red body with a small white head. Herbal notes from the (aroma) hop I guess in the aroma. The same remain, lighter in the taste, on top of some maltiness, light coffee, creamy. Good for the style and the ABV. I can see why this is the Slovak’s go-to beer.

From the Slovak crew, thanks! Poured a misty golden body with a medium sized fluffy white head. Nice herbal hoppy aroma, grapefruity, bitter, some sweetish notes, balanced. Milder taste, bitter, some grapefruit, some beets, overall a fine little IPA like any market should have.

Stupavar Špeciál 13% I guess. 5.3%. Anyway, poured a dark brown-red body with an off white head. Mild aroma, coffee, slightly dusty, roasty. Mild, creamy yet roasty taste, balanced, vague bitterness, light soap. Not too complex but a nice beer.

Huge thanks to the Slovak crew! Poured a murky yellow body with a thick white head. Superb aroma, lactic, orange, yeasty, light cloves, sweetish and balanced, showcasing a good ester and phenol presence. Yay! The taste, however, is not on the same level, pleasant, sweet and yeasty, but not that complex or fruity, giving off some phenols, light fruity notes, orange mainly, and some bitterness that seems a touch off. Well, a good weizen in any case.

Imperial Red Ale apparently, thanks Gurthnar & Cuso! Poured a dark ruby body with a small off white head. Interesting aroma, notes of sweetbread, alcohol, raisins. Where are the hops? Limp taste revealing more alcohol than there should be... malts dominate this, strange bitterness... earthy. That sweetbread note is interesting, but I expected something completely different and more complex. Damn... we must’ve run into an off bottle. Definitely unique, but none of us liked it in the end. Shame. Hope I get to rerate it in Slovakia...

Bottle. Aroma is entirely hoppy, fruity, yet earthy, grassy. Lets say close to the ground. Clear dark ruby colour. Taste is again mostly hoppy. Has some malt balance, coffee and such, but mostly hoppy. Fruity and earthy. Too earthy for my liking, tart. Good beer.

Bottle from brewery. Strong citrus hoppy aroma. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, citrus hops, with tangerines, grapefruit, pines. Hoppy finish. Good.

Courtesy of and thanks to tderoeck. 500 ml. bottle sampled @ “Procrastinated Spontaneity /…………/ 2 Boekjes” tasting @ Gent. Hazy oily orange with no head. Smells of oily citrus, solvents, sour, funky, smells off. Tastes bitter upfront, oily citrus, esoteric oil, bitter pine resin, sour, citrus peel, seems off. Oily lower carb. body. This bottle seemed off.

Bottle from a trade, thanks Michal! Shared with Tderoeck. Amber orange hazy colour, white foam. Bad aroma, sour nose, this beer is infected. Some notes of caramel with bitter finish. Unbalanced. This beer good be good if it wasn’t infected. It’s a pity.

23/V/14 - 50cl bottle @ home - BB: 30/V/14 (2014-524) Thanks to JefVerstraete for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, big aery off-white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit dirty, floral, overripe fruits, toilet cleanser, floral, bit sugary, sourish, dirty. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very bitter, grapefruit, little fruity, dirty and dry. Aftertaste: weird, spicy, very bitter, chemical, pretty dirty. Clearly infected. Typical brewing error with a lot of eastern European small craft breweries, alas. :(
