On tap at the brewery as part of a six-beer sampler. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Aroma of pale malts and slight noble hop aromas. Flavor again is pale malt, lightly bitter, with minor spicy, grassy, and citrus hoppiness. It’s okay, just not terribly special.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a slightly hazy orange with a slight amber hue and a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced nicely. Aroma had a good amount of hops with a hint of pine and a pretty strong grain backbone. Flavor began with some pine hops but mellowed in to more of a grain and hay finish.

6th Annual MBG Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Bourbon Oak Oatmeal Stout. Dark brown body, medium tight cream to tan head. Oak nose and oak body, pretty much like licking an oak barrel with modest roasted malts in the background. Not every beer needs oak...

sampled at last summer’s Michigan Brewer’s Fest - Pours red with a lingering off-white head. It smells of toasted caramel malt and smoke. The flavor is smoky malt with mild to moderately strong hops bitterness. This enjoyable brew is medium bodied and finishes with lingering bitterness and smoke. Well done.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy brown with an amber hue and tan head that dissipated quickly and completely. Aroma had notes of tart red fruits as well as some dark grains and bread notes. Flavor was a bit less tart as the malts were more present with a bread like note.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 MBG Fall Fest. Poured a near black with a deep brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of spice with lots of nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon with underling dark grains and pumpkin. Flavor had more dark grains and roasted malt coming through to balance the spices. The pumpkin still did not come out much.
