Draught at brewpub as "Dunkel". Seemingly clear dark brown colour. Quite big, frothy, stable light brown head. Weak malty aroma. The flavour is malty and slightly fruity, a little thin. Not very roasted, but in good balance. The aftertaste is weak. OK mouthfeel.

Bottle: Reddish to dark amber coloured, medium-sized fluffy off-white head, slowly diminishing; Clean malty aroma with shy traces of roasted malts and molasses; initial sweetish-malty taste; moderate bitter-sweet flavour; dryer, quite short malty finish with a good dash of bitterness; medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel; really well quaffable; a superb, well balanced Dunkles.

Draught. Was called Benediktiner Dunkel, but certainly no Bock Red Amber, clear; pink-beige head, tenacious. Faint malty nose, very inconspicious. Bready, marrons glacées ; sweet but not cloying.. Medium to well-bodied, but it is ending really sweetish and uninteresting. Not bad in any specific way - just not very interesting.

Metallic bitterhop and slightly burned nose. Dark mahagony and creamy white-brown head. Light roasted sweetnes, a hint of spices. The low gravity is noticeable - lightbodied without compensation. Nice summerbeer, but not really special.

Dark appearance. Decent dunkel, but nothing special. Drank this one in the 'Kloster' on top of the Michaelsberg in Bamberg.

Bottled in Veilbronn. Clear nut brown, densehead. A bit syrupy and mushy. Nutty drier finish with some roastiness and resiny bitterness. Rough and unrefined.
