(33cl bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a fluffy, slowly lacing off-white foamy head. Sweet toasted malt aroma with caramel and cacao. Moderately sweet and dark malty taste with toasted and herbal notes; dry-ish malty and slightly bitter finish. Somewhat charming but undemanding Dunkel.

(33cl bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a medium-sized foamy white head. Sweet malty and grainy aroma with only a whiff of hops. Sweet flavour, light bodied, but well-carbonated mouthfeel. Malty, slightly buttery and grainy taste with a light herbal background; medium-dry, malty and very light-bitter finish. Tastes sweeter than the βnormalβ Pils; all in all not that bad for a diet beer.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy and quite stable foamy white head. Sweet malty, minimal grainy aroma with grassy hops. Mild bitter flavour, light to medium body, although it has 5.4% ABV, rather smooth carbonated mouthfeel. Soft malty base with herbal hoppy notes; dry and moderately bitter finish with herbal hops and a light grassy touch. Clean and refreshing but pretty thin βPilsenerβ, that reminds me of a mediocre Export.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy foamy white head. Light-sweet malty, slightly grainy and a bit papery nose with grassy hops. Medium-bitter flavour, light to medium body, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Malty, slightly grainy taste with herbal accents on the palate and light grassy hops towards the finish, which is dry and moderately bitter. Solid Pils but nothing special.

Medium white creamy head; golden yellow body. Aroma of chalk, grain, and floral hops, and perhaps a touch of urine. Clear, crisp, slightly acidic, faintly chalky taste. Hoppy aftertaste, but no noticeable bitterness. Light-bodied, drinkable, and, except for the hops, boring. (0.3l on tap.)

Draught. Shiny yellow colour, almost no head. This beer is a little malty and a little sour.

Bottle: Not very "Dunkel", but deep amber coloured, thin, but stable off-white layer; distinctive malty nose (sweet caramel, roastmalt, dark malt) with a touch of coffee; slightly sweet, almost a bit dry, flavour, light bodied; short, a little bit sweet, malty finish. Pleasant, but quite unspectacular Dunklel.....

(tap at the Christmas Fair in Holzwickede, NRW, which is the twin city of Colditz, Sachsen) Clear and almost black coloured hue with a small and creamy off-white layer. Dense toastmalty aroma with a touch of caramel and coffee. Dry, roastmalty taste, medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel, bitter hoppy and lasting finish with notes of coffee. Decent Schwarzbier.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark amber with a nice and lightly beige head. Malty, lightly roasted aroma with some sweetness and only a discreet bitterness. A straight Dunkel - no frills. Could do with a bit more personality. 111204
