50cl on tap at S. Brevinga, Riga. Pretty clear deep golden (looks like honey) with a rather small, white head. Aroma of mild grassy and fruity hops, pale malt and hints of honey and herbs. Described as an IPA, but a more like an English pale ale in my book. Medium sweet with nice, but fairly mild hoppy notes and a lightly bitter finish. Quite nice and sessionable.

330ml tap, 18.12.13, Riga. Small white head, golden and slightly-slightly hazy body. Lemon, hops and tangerine. Mild citrus and sweet notes. Tastes like it smells. Interesting, but a bit thin. Not your typical IPA, but I like it and am really happy to be back in Riga.

Medium creamy offwhite head. Slightly hazy amber body. Spicy caramelly earthy aroma. Dry-sweet caramelly roasted sugar taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish spicy rock sugar aftertaste with buttery earthy strawy notes. Nice and drinkable, but surprisingly flat. (0.3l draft at S. Brevinga, Riga.)

330ml from tap@S. Brevinga in Tirgonu iela, Latvia. It was recommended to us by the bartender. As far as I understand Saldalus is a new brewery and hasn’t got a web-page yet, it was also hard to find the correct strenght:it said 6,5 in the bar, but in the internet it says 6,3. More information needed! Pours a slightly hazy golden body. Filmy layer on top, traces of lacing. Honey, bread, hops and hints of yeast and citrus to the nose. Hops, honey, tangerines, wet leaves and some herbs. Thanks for sharing Stefan! (19.Dec.2012)

330ml from tap@S. Brevinga in Tirgonu iela, Latvia, with Stefan19.Dec.2012. It was hard to find much about this beer. It was recommended to us by the bartender and as far as I understand from the little I’ve found out about it using google, Saldalus is a new brewery and hasn’t got a web-page yet. In the bar the strenght was said to be 6,5 but in the internet it says 6,3. Well: it poured a mahogany coloured body, with beige filmy layer on top. Dark malt and fruity nose: plum, cherry, prunes. The taste was surprisingly rich and well-balanced, the malt and dark fruits are of course the most noticable, but also some spices, maybe cinnamon and ginger. Tastes more of coffee as it lingeres on. A very pleasant experience.
