Description
It started on Plaza Drive in New Albany, Indiana, with Sportstime Pizza in 1987 (now the NABC Pizzeria), followed by Rich O’s (NABC Public House) in 1990, the incorporation of the New Albanian Brewing Company in 1994 and the launch of the original New Albanian Brewery in 2002 (the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935). The Pizzeria & Public House are still going strong.

In New Albania, beer is a way of life. NABC stands for a quarter-century of experience, education, recognition and success. Not only that, but our machines kill fascists, too.

Now more than ever before, we ask: Can your beer do that?

Bottle. Deep golden body approaching amber. Fizzy, white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of toasted grain, pepper, alcohol, spicy hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Some acidic tartness in the finish. A watery, flavorless start turns into a spice and pepper finish. Clean and dry, but not a lot going on in this beer.

Draft. Bourbon and milk chocolate malt aroma. Black-brown with small but nice head. Sweet bourbon and nutty chocolate malt flavor. Excellent blending. Spectacular - great bourbon flavor that doesn’t overwhelm.

Bottle pours deep amber to mahogany with thin tan head. The aroma offers up dark fruity sweetness and earthiness. The taste is much the same with a mix of caramel candy, prunes, cherries and dates. It quickly flows into earthiness that seems to bind together the experience just as a bit of booze tries in vain to pull this thing apart. Tasty Baltic Porter that is hitting all the right buttons.

Draft. Lightly sour malt aroma. Black with small head. Lightly tart mild wheat malt flavor. Light body. A nicely drinkable beer - not a lot of sourness though. A very interesting take on the style.

Draft. Oak smoke and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Mild sweet-sour smoky wheat malt flavor initially followed by a moderately bitter herbal finish. Very tasty especially for a lower alcohol beer.

Filtered light golden yellow, this steady white head. Sweet and brutal, insane American beer. Some spicy Belgian style hops. Big sugary golden malt tones. I wouldn’t call this world class. Clean enough with the filtering. Sort of meady. A touch of apple honey. Really grew on me, despite the first impressions. Brutal, but quite a nice beer.

Orange-brown, unfiltered. Thin white head. Funky sweet aroma, maybe some tweaked tropical fruit. In no way true to style, quite an odd concoction. Subtle black pepper and awkward fruit tones. This tastes like a decent homebrew. Rather malt centered, this doesn’t really work, even with the tweek.

Hazy unfiltered funky grey yellow tan. Foamy white head. Smooth yeasty creaminess. Very true to style, Old World boho feel to it. Delicate spicy noble hops. This is a great session beer, a pleasant surprise. Hyper fresh, brings me back to my Franklins days. Standard perhaps to pedestrian pallets, but I find this to be quite well executed.
