Bottled. This copper red brew forms a nice creamy head. The aroma is dry and very roasty. It has a soft maltiness, and is nicely balanced, with pleasant velvetty finish.

A few bottles of beer have been picked up from a wreck in the Baltic where thay have been since October 11th 1915 when the german freighter SS Nicomedia was sunk by a British sub. Slottskällan has reproduced the beer using the yeast from the recovered bottles. It is a wheat beer but not of any type I have encountered before. It is cloudy and pale orange. It has a strong vanilla aroma, is full bodied, round and fruity. Comparing to their hefeweizen, Vit, it is not as refreshing, but more filling.
The original beer from 1915, which I tasted in september 2000 was hazily dark blonde, and had tart lambic-ish notes, probably from the aging, but was in no way destroyed.

Dark burgundy. Sweet, big body, butterscotchy, malty, complex with some bitterness.

The first beer to come out of this microbrewery. A summer ale, described by the brewery to be a modern german style ale. It comes out slightly orange coloured and has a complex smell. It is remarkably round and has tones of vanilla and cream, which is nicely accompanied by some bitterness. Alcohol is 5.0%

Pale yellow and very hazy. Flattish and quickly vanishing head. Yeasty with obvious banana esters. Some batches have been a bit acidic. Very refreshing.

I classed this one an altbier mostly for lack of a better choice. It is a German-style ale, though, along the lines of Duckstein or Hovels Bitterbier. It is crisp, with some very light acidity and caramel notes.

Made with yeast found in a shipwreck at the bottom of the Baltic. Light, wheaty and very acidic in both nose and palate.

This has a really bready, toasty character. It is apparently supposed to be a spiced beer, but I didn't get much of that, and classified it a Vienna at the time.
