Description
Crux is a crossroads, an intersection, the heart of something. In brewing it's that pivotal point where fermentation happens and anticipation mounts.

We’re Crux Fermentation Project— housed in a former AAMCO Transmission Plant and inspired by our location right in the heart of Bend, Oregon. Our brewery is a one-of-a-kind, built for non-traditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation and barrel aging, and for leveraging the limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.

No head; jet black beer. Vanilla/Bourbon onslaught; sweet-roasted; filthingly rich aroma. Sweet-vanilla-Bourbon, wood flavour, strawberry, roasted/burnt malts. Finish is drier roasted-bitter. Quite voluptuous, full bodied, alcoholwarming. Very good I.S. Thanks to AdamJackson!

Thanks for sharing AdamJackson! 375 ml. bottle sampled @ ACBF 2015. Blackish beer. Nose is liquorish, boozy, lots of liquorish, warming spirit-quality, more actual bourbon than the usual vanilla, oak type deal. Taste is liquorish, herbal at first, lots of coffee grounds, finish is nicely warming vanilla, oaky bourbon sweetness. Warming, thick body. A bit less liquorish, herbal for me & even more sweetness but this is quite lovely already.

7/III/15 - 37.5cl bottle @ ACBF 2015 (Vichte) - BB: n/a (2015-331) Thanks to 77ships and AdamJackson for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of bourbon, sweet, caramel, alcohol, sugary impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of vanilla in the start, bit sugary, dried fruits, dusty, nice, quite some alcohol though. Aftertaste: hoppy bitter touch, some coffee, mocha, roasted, alcohol, dry bitter finish.

Bottle - Lots of sweet tropical fruit and syrupy caramel. Clear gold with a very rich white head. Nice fruity notes and some orange and tropical hops. Pretty solid.

Light amber, i like the sort of lemony, grassy hop character...to me it’s like really poppin’ fresh centennial or something like that. The palate is light, bit fizzy, and the malts a bit muddled, but I remain intrigued by the hop character.

Bottle, 2013 release, enjoyed January 2015. Pours pitch black, with a finger thick brown creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, with lots of cocoa, woodwork and bourbon barrels, as well as tobacco, vanilla, coffee and molasses. Full body with creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet roasted malts, with raisins, dark fruits and wooden barrels, as well as notes of bourbon and leather.

Nitro draft pour at elliott bay pizza. Pours black with a ton of creamy head and lace. Easy coffee aroma. Flavor is a little smokey up front. Some chocolate flavor throughout, and a good kick too. Very creamy. Always love a good stout on nitro. Good beer here.

2014 bottle poured. Pours a slightly reddish copper color with a fizzy head. Sour cherries and berry aroma. Smells great. Very fruity, but not sweet by any means. Not really sour in any way, as I had expected. Very winish. Could have guessed it was aged in wine barrels. Tasty beer overall. Really good.

500ml bottle - lightly hazy gold - fairly lively - nose is moderate tropical esters, light muskiness, light peppery phenolics and minerals - flavor is a bit sweet, lacking the same yeast expression that the aroma suggests - tropical notes compliment the sweetness okay, I guess - slight tartness balances as bit - as it warms, there is a nicely complex phenolic profile that develops on the tail end, but overall it’s still a little too sweet, and a little limp in the mouth - a decent attempt - I would try a later batch to see if they improved their approach.
