Bottle from Rasputin’s in Ipswich and split at the EU themed 2nd Ipswich bottle share. Pours a reddish brown with a small cream coloured head. Aroma has some chocolate, malt and caramel. Quite sweet. The chilli is slow to emerge but comes through after a while but it didn’t really work. No one was much of a fan of this one.

Bready stewed apple, dates, and raisins nose, hints of walnut. Cloudy brown, thin tan head. Raisins and dates, figs, wheat bread. Figs and plums are especially pronounced in the finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Paler and fruitier than most examples of the style. Drinks more like a belgian dubbel.

Bottle from the Polish Delicatessen, opposite The Barum Top Inn, Halifax, and called ’Juicy Lemon’. Fluorescent clear green coloured with a carbonation and no head. The lemon is at its most prominent in its nose, although there is a small influence of the fruit on its more regular lager flavour.
