Description
When Phil Bennett began planning for the Beowulf Brewing Company in 1996 there was no brewing going on in Birmingham. The original site of the brewery was in Yardley, where independent beer production started in the city in 1997. Beowulf began in a disused ex Co-op shop. Our original “signature” beer, Heroes Bitter, is still popular and sits at the head of an capacious list of regular and occasional beers. Now on the shore of Chasewater near Brownhills, Staffordshire the brewery is awash with Regional and National awards. Beowulf’s dark beers attract particular praise, devotion and accolades. The brewery celebrated its first twenty years last year and in 2018 we will finally get it together to have a beautiful website… turns out the internet is not a flash in the pan! Please come back and see it. All our cask and bottled beers will be listed along with some other interesting stuff.

Black color with a big fine creamy beige head. Nice lacing down the glass. Powerful nice aroma. Chocolate, coffee, mild fruity and mild roasted. Medium to full body and a soft fine carbonation. Powerful little devil and quite well masked alcohol. Chocolate, some dried fruits, coffee and mild roasted. Nice evening sipper.

Cask at the Walsall Camra, beer festival 2015. Poured a clear straw colour with a thin whispy white head. The aroma is sweet sticky toffee, skunky malt. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a watery floral hop bitter palate and a somewhat unpleasant bitter finish. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Drain pour material I’m afraid.
