Description
Ashford-based Low Key Barrel Project specialise in barrel aged beers. Producing beer in beautifully waxed 375ml bottles and specialising in big, aggressive beers from impy stouts right through to heavily adjuncted barley wines, Low Key brew anything but low key beer.

Bottle split at the Tilt Tasting, Bingohame Convention VI, thanks to Ian 02/07/22. Black with a big old khaki cap that stays for the show. Nose is dark malts, spice, dried fruit rinds, vinous, chocolate dipped raisins, red berry tang. Taste comprises chocolate, toffee fudge, light spice, molasses, toasted brown sugar, dried red berries, trace of wine barrel, oaky tones. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid kit.

Bottle thanks to Beersiveknown. Appearance - deep black and mat. Fawn head. Nose - blackberry and rich dark chocolate. Woody. Taste - woody and chocolate. Berries again. Palate - medium bodied. Dry finish. Overall - good stuff.

Bottle at Craig's. Pours murky brown with a thick tan head. Aromas of chocolate and blueberry. Taste is sharp blueberry, faint chocolate. Sour finish.

375ml bottle at the Tilt tasting; 2nd July 2022; cheers Ian (harrisoni). Tanned top to the black body, not quite clear. Dark berries in the nose, taste is also dark berries, but with a stem/wood like twist, boozy and a trace of chocolate.

On bottle at Boutilliers Taproom Ashford July 2022 tasting . coffee barleywine coconut and chocolate Clear deep orange red colour thin white heat. Coffee and age. aroma. Coffee up front but then it softens into a smooth barleywine. sweetness. then a dry finish. its a good barleywine base beer. light coconut. bit weird but fine
