Description
Elysian Brewing Company operates three locations of which Elysian Capitol Hill is the main brewery and a full production brewery – Elysian Airport Way, in the Georgetown neighborhood (since 2011). Known both for classic styles and for flexibility and innovation, Elysian has brewed over 500 different recipes since opening in 1996. While Elysian’s brewers use a variety of unusual ingredients, they are seasonally notorious for their pumpkin beers. In 2015 Elysian joined AB InBevs' family of craft brands.

Pour is a complete black with a large creamy tan head. Aroma is a full roast and char malt. Flavor is a minor roast, some chocolate syrup and a green hop spicy bitterness. This brewer may have been bought out by AB and some of their beers are kind of meh but I thought this was real good. Plenty of roasted malt, just enough sweetness and the hops actually make an appearance.

Pours a golden yellow with light opacity and a thick white head. Aroma of oily fruit, lemon. Taste has tangerine/papaya blend, some mild acidity. Palate has more of the same, some hints of oily resin on the nose, rummy notes. Interesting, good.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin bubbly white head. Aroma of citrus, bizarre mix with sour mash, cherry and stone fruit. Taste has tangerine, more stone fruit, somewhat rotten fruit note. Palate has more of the rotten fruit notes, some apple. Weird.

12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 5/7/21. Rating as many different states in a row as I can without repeats. Starting on 5/4: IL, CT, NY, VA, TN, IA, MN, AZ, OH, FL, NM, MI, TX, and now CO. Hazy orange, large fizzy off-white head, good retention Aroma of melon, dank, buttery malt. Taste is grapefruit, lemon, tropical fruit, pale malt. Moderate bitterness, juicy. Booze there but fairly well hidden. Pretty nice overall.

Decent hazy IPA, no more, no less. Grapefruit, papaya, and stone fruit make for a juicy burst, and the finish offers a marginal bitterness. Good enough, I guess.

The aromas are fresh citrus hops leaning orange with some biscuit. Flavors are similar to nose, on the dry side with a lingering bitter finish. Decent carbonation but a little thin.
