From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear cola with an ecur head. Aroma of vanilla and toffee. Light bodied. Some caramel lurking around. Smooth finish.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a cloudy yellow-gold color with a medium sized fluffy white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was tangy and yeasty with cinnamon and clove. The flavor was sweet and bread with cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Long finish. Medium body. Fairly tasty.

If some beer needs to be #6000, why not make it this one? From a can at Chadwicks. Aroma was light spiced notes, touch of that lemony sweetness that you typically get from Leinenkugels. Straw, lemonade notes. Touch of gourd spices, but not a lot of pumpkin notes. Inoffensive, though slighly metalic.

Hazy orange amber, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of pear, citrus, nutmeg, spice, wheat. The taste is spice, pear, apple, wheat. Medium bodied. Pretty solid.

Growler from the brewery. Clear amber, medium sized fizzy white head, fair retention. Aroma of toasted malts, apple, earth. The taste is toasted malt, caramel, stone fruits, spicy hops, mild raisin. Medium bodied, high carbonation, refreshing.

From a twist off bottle this is typical old country not real dark lager. Dull, laid back malty medicinal thing. If I closed my eyes, I’d think this came from England or Belgium or something. Sweeter aroma. Thicker viscous somewhat cloying feel to it. Not sure if the oak is apparent. Perhaps an inkling of tartness sticks its wonderful head up in the end. Different for a change from liney.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Pie spice aroma. Strong. Med minus body. Flavor is pie spice, then gets some thin citrus, then gets back to pie spice, and finishes, well mostly pie spice. I think citrus is present all the way, but not much.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 8/17/2015. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
