Refrigerated can from JoePeesie poured into a shaker. Pours hazy pale golden with small white head that dissapates quickly. Little lacing, light/medium body, grainy texture, and light malt aroma. Taste is grainy malt, some bread, and finishes grassy hops. Bud might be better, but Lithuania has been check off the map.

Obtained from ’Beers of Europe’, a 500ml tall brown bottle: best before 18 Dec 2011, poured into a German Pilsner glass (three times) during 29 October 2011. Typical lager/pilsner look, light golden, clear, bright and clean: this brew however had a head that tried to stay on each pour. The smell and taste is sweeter than a German Pilsner, hoppy, but not as dry or bitter as its German friends. The hops are floral and aromatic more than bittering: very easy to drink. I like sweeter beers, so this suits me, but I could see a Pilsner fan complaining it isn’t sharp, crisp or dry enough for his tastes. Pleasant and good enough to put up there with the better Lager/Pilsner/Helles style brews.

Tall brown half litre bottle of top fermenting Brown Ale: found in Cambridge, England. The best before date was 29 Dec 2011, so reviewed when almost two weeks older than it should have been. Poured into my rarely used ’Good People’ badged US sleeve shaped glass. Looked a treat, lovely chestnut reddy brown body, clear and healthy: on top a huge tanned head. The head soon however retreated into a wispy covering and collar leaving no lacing at all. The aroma was of semi-sweet malty molasses and dark treacle. The taste was very simular to the smell but not so sweet up front, it did however become sweeter as it warmed in the mouth, very malty. Caramel flavours more than dark treacle found in the smell. The mouthfeel was fair to middling, not watery but not full bodied either. Too many hints of sweetness to be confussed with a UK Brown and the carbonisation was heading towards lager/pilsner heights. So: not unpleasant and a kind of hybrid brew with top fermentation and pilsner carbonisation, glad I found it. Difficult to score being such a mix of styles.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours yellow with a nice Nekronos-style head. Bready and slightly metallic nose. Medium body, sweet malts and brewing cereal, a little dry and metallic. But decent for what it is. 261111
