In het Rotterdam Makers District verrijst aan de Merwehaven een combinatie van craftbierbrouwerij met eigen horeca die zijn weerga niet kent: de Stadshaven Brouwerij. In een 100 jaar oude, volledig gerestaureerde fruitloods van ruim 5000 m2 wordt straks maar liefst 20.000 hectoliter craftbier gebrouwen (2 miljoen liter bier per jaar) en afgevuld in fles, blik of fust. En dit in een havengebied met enorm potentieel, dat volop wordt herontwikkeld en waar de komst van Stadshaven Brouwerij een belangrijke bijdrage zal leveren aan de leefbaarheid en sociale dynamiek.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before September 2025. Hazy, golden amber with lots of floaties and a thin, slightly fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, slightly malty and a little floral aroma artificial banana, some corn flakes and light grains. Quite sweet, moderately bitter, malty and a bit floral taste of grains, corn flakes, artificial banana and light clove, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Drinkable but far from great.

A: red apple, raisin, strawberry jam, brioche, peanut.
T: sweet raisin, red apple, brioche, caramel, herbs.
F: herbal hops, bitter tea, orange peel, raisin.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Pretty good, very drinkable.

33cl can achetée chez Jumbo à Maastricht. Niveau design, cette brasserie surfe un peu sur l'inspiration de Ballast Point aux US.

Ambre, col fin crémeux blanc-cassé bien tenace.
Arôme est houblonné présentant un agréable côté houblonné avec un apport fruité en ajout de mandarine et du carambole (que forcément je ne déguste pas souvent voire jamais) surfant sur une note exotique et un peu pulpeuse acidulée avec le retour plus agrume de la mandarine. Le rétro-nasal demeure tout de même sur une base plus présente de malt pâle, caramel et céréales.
Palais sur une approche classique IPA américaine avec des influences allant même vers un pale ale de par cette approche plus maltée. Le tout prend aussi un virage belge avec une levure plus rustique - effet pulpeux en fin de bouche sûrement du carambole dont l'acidité enlève un peu de sa sublime à la mandarine. Amertume reste fine vu l'apport de fruits dans la bière et plus en appui de cette IPA.

33cl bottle in Haus der 100 Biere, Berlin on 1st October 2024. Golden pour, slight mistiness as the final drop left the bottle and brought some sediment out with it, wispy white affair on top. Liked the bottle label, beer was OK too. Malty and semi-sweet front, some herbal action but very little hop content.

Bottle, 5.5%. Great spicy, teaish, and caramelly hop aroma. Cloudy copper colour. Big stable creamy off-white head. The flavour is spicy and caramelly like the aroma. With a good clean bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel. Mild teaish sweetness. Flavourful and well-balanced.

330ml bottle pours out cola brown topped with a tan head. Nose is nice sweet caramel pitfruit malts and some spice. Taste is more of the nice sweet malt combo and a little wood.

Bottle, 8.5%. Fruity aroma, hay, grass, clove. Cloudy yellow colour. Good stable white head. The flavour is malty and nicely spicy. Creamy mouthfeel. Clove finish. Good warming alcohol, slightly peppery. Very well-balanced. An excellent tripel.
