About
As the “Köstritzer Erbschenke” the Köstritzer black beer brewery is first mentioned in 1543, making it one of the oldest breweries in Germany. In 1948, the brewery became a "Volkseigener Betrieb" after the state of Thuringia had expropriated it. In 1991 the Köstritzer Schwarzbierbrauerei became part of the Bitburger Group and within a few years it has grown into one of the most modern and largest breweries in Thuringia.

0,5 l bottle. Clear dark red in the glass, big beige head. Looking really good. Very low malty on the nose. Taste starts malty, some sweetness in the background, little bit fruity, citrus and cherry, low grain and caramell, hints of metallic. Soft. Smooth bitterness with grain in the aftertaste. Not my kind of beer.

Bottle. Brown color, white head with medium lasting. Aroma is light toasty with some hay hints. Flavor is quite similar as aroma with light maltiness. Plane beer on palate.

Appearance: Dark brown colour with a tan head.
Aroma: Roasted malt, caramel, chocolate.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.

Draft @ Taphouse, Copenhagen. Pours a dark amber ruby color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel bready aroma. Fruity malty spicy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel finish.

On tap at Danny’s Jazz. Pours bright amber, off-white head. Intense aromas of passionfruit, mango and orange. Taste is well balanced, fresh and quite bitter. Long finish. Nice ale.

Schroeder's SF. Good beer, maybe slightly thin. No head retention. Crisp and roasty. Tried again in dresden, much more complex and flavourful, not thin at all.

Lichtbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig, licht zoet met iets van geroosterd brood. Best een goed bier, drinkt makkelijk weg.
