A pretty nondescript Oktoberfest. Has a straw-colored/golden body with a thin, clumping off-white head. Aroma is light, fruity, and almost floral. Flavor is delicate malt sweetness and just a hint of fruitiness. There are better Oktoberfests.

Dark ruby body, with a thin tan head. Aroma is malty sweet. Flavor is likewise sweet malts, with light dark fruity notes and some roasted malt character. Unfortunately, the body and flavor are light and less than forthright.

On tap at der Steinkeller. A very strong maibock, suspiciously unlike other examples of the style. Poured amber, with no head (might have been a bit flat?). Sweet, malty aroma. The flavor suggested unfermented or incompletely fermented malts: very sweet, with a harsh aftertaste, almost barleywine-like in nature. Rather harsh alcohol notes were evident as well. An odd example of the style, for sure.

Bottled. Pale yellow with airy head. Dry, slightly bready and very clean with very bitter finish. A good, typical German style pilsener.

(Sampled 0,5 liter can.) \"Das Schwarze mit der Blonden Seele\". Fairly weak but decent aroma, smells like German Schwarzbrot. Roasted malt flavour with coffee and burnt toast. A bit watery mouthfeel. (Is that what the brewers refer to as the \"blonde soul\"?) By all means, this is a very drinkable Schwarzbier, but the style unfortunately seems to lack the rich velvety mouthfeel of a stout or a Baltic porter.

A red almost black beer with a beutiful head. It has a slightly sweet aroma and a sweet malty and only slightly bitter taste. All in all a good beer that I'll have again.
