Tap at JL Beers Bismarck I’m sticking light for now. Golden pour frothy white head. Nose is grainy and bread. Tastes of grains, grass, crackers, light lemon. Crisp. Pretty nice.

Can: Hazed, pale yellow with a frothy white head. Grain malt, yeast, honey aroma. Taste is heavily malty, grains, lagery.... Nice full body and richness. Mild grassy, straw bitter. Excellent.

Pour is a hazy straw with a large white head. Aroma is a nice fresh baked biscuit with a a herbal European hop. Flavor is again a nice bready and chewy malt with a touch of honey sweetness. A decent hop follows the swallow. This is a pretty malt heavy pils but it is still full of flavor and refreshing at the same time.

Not really a good beer. Aroma has a number of things going on, many not so good - a bit of funk, hint of hop and toffee, whiff of skunk. Flavor’s dominated by bitter, some malt and a tad of hop. Palate is dominated by bitter: too much.

nitro tap - Pours near black with the typical big, long lasting head of a nitro tap. It’s light tan and laces heavily. The aroma is of roast malt and coffee. The taste is similar and is sweet but not too sweet. Medium to full bodied. Very good.

Tap. Pours clear orange gold, medium off white head, good lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, floral, caramel. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter. Medium body. Not great.

Can. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and biscuit with a hint of fresh cut grass. Flavor is similar with grass, sweet grains and a bit of biscuit.

Can. Pours a near clear pale yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has lots of grain and hay with a great crisp grass note supporting. Flavor has same great crispness with light grain, hay and straw underlying.

I purchased a six pack of this. Where they went with 16 oz cans for the double IPA, they are selling this in 12 oz, and that seems backwards. In Franconia you are going to have this by the liter/half liter. I poured almost two cans into a Weihenstephaner dimpled mug. Initially a tall white head that fades quickly, but leaves thick lace on the glass and on top of the beer. Immediately recognizable as a keller bier from the first sip. There is lots of yeast, and crisp, dry malt. Some bread dough. Very dry. Aftertaste of light malt. Hops add a bitter flavor that works well with the malt flavor. They nailed the style. This is one of the best beers Summit has ever produced.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-caramel color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweetish with molasses, rum, cherry, fig and tobacco. The flavor was sweetish with caramel, molasses and dark fruits followed by anise, booze, tobacco and medicine. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.
