A darker beer that looks like lighter iced tea. Does have some grapefruit attributes right from the start. Its the kind of hop thing that makes you think of chewing on green grapefruit rinds. Dan says this attitude is from thhe combination of topaz and galaxy hops. Has a little bit of the leathery feel to it. Yes, I guess there is some IPA attitude in there, including the slight odor of BO, in a good way. I think the finish really does emphasize the grapefruit thing and this comes forward in the end.

Got this while filling a growler for ReggieDunlap, heheh. Nice and black but upon closer inspection its really just very dark brown. Aroma is mostly clean black coffee. Taste is certainly stout but the peanut butter is not really apparent at first. However, during the session the peanut butter attributes begin to grow on you and cover much of the coffee background. Yes, PB evolves to an almost pronounced backbone. Ends up something like a unique PB & stouty thing. Can’t sense much chocolate in this. Quite interesting beery experience.

Very light brown with a little haze. Has an ever so slight tart aroma to it. First taste is a slight sense of tart but that fades rapidly. Ends up being a malty flavor of some sort. Yes, malt seems to take over during the session but it never really gets in yer face nor does it go over the top. Well behaved overall beer. Mild creamy co2 lasts thru the finish.

Not really a meade, just a beer brewed with honey, that’s what brewer dan told me. Cloudy lite brown. Creamy thin head. Some very fine co2 greets the palate from the start. Slightly sweet on the uptake. Yes, honey is there but just barely. Not in yer face like so many honey beers. Easy going, and mild. Not sure if this is really a mead or not, probably not. No real ill effects on this brew. Overall a fairly laid back and well behaved honey brew. No way is this above 5% for alky. If it is, I’m not getting dizzy.

On tap at the brew pub. Nice looking beer. Thin creamy bubbly head. Leaves nice lacing thru the session on my glass. Rather sweet friendly aroma, somewhat malty on the olfactory. Easy and smooth initial impressions on the taste buds. A very well behaved brew. Just a tad of that ale bitterness but never does it get ill. Lacks many of the negative attributes of ale that I have become familiar with over the years. Good overall ale experience, if that’s possible, IDK.

Now, with the regular pecan nut brown, it was Ok but this stuff is almost getting into my face. On tap at the brewpub. Comes with cinnamon and sugar on the rim of the glass. Cloudy darker brown. Nitmeg it seems and cinny are prevalent. Much more forward pecan personality, almost gets in yer face. Not as manner well behaved manners as their regular pecan brew.

On tap at the brewpub. Special thanksgiving beer. Comes with cinnamon and sugar on the lip of the glass. Nice dark brown pour. Some nut dirt taste on an otherwise almost flat beer. Unique flavors. Not into pecans but the nut taste is not too far forward. Smell is like sweet nut pie. Could live with this beer.

At the pub this was listed as double vanilla bean carmel cream ale. Thin creamy head. Brown like iced tea. Smell is sweet perfume, with a tad of vanilla aroma. Does have some vanilla in the flavor but it is not obtuse like so many other vanilla beers, well done and well behaved. This vanilla beer has manners. Never over the top, this is what I’ve grown to like about these beaver brews, they are never over the top lik so many american wanna beez. Has some roasted attributes in there too. Good overall beer experience. Friendly and mild mannered throu out. You would never know this beer is close to 6%. Goes down way too easy.

For a barley wine style berw, this is pretty good. Mind you, its not harvey’s but its well behaved, unlike most american rye wines or barley wines. Sweeter perfumy aroma that is not volatile. Taste is strong but it never goew over the top. This brew hides the 8% really well. Mellows and becomes more acceptable as the session continues. Plenty of personality but never goes over the top. You would never know this was a high abv unles somebody told you.
