12 oz can from Total Wine - San Antonio. Pours a hazy gold color with a small white head and poor retention. No lacing. Almost no aroma. Maybe some faint honey? The flavors are also faint and nondescript. Tastes more like a generic pale lager with a hint of honey sweetness. Nearly flat mouthfeel. Light, watery body. No wheat flavor either. Not bitter. There's no bad flavor here, but it's just bland and uninspiring.

Visiting Panther Island has been enjoyed a number of times. We went by last Black Friday in the afternoon and they were inexplicably not open. I did locate this 16 oz can of Hazy Cat (cool graphics) at the Hulen St. Total Wine as compensation. This evening is the opening of the can and the tasting. The beer gets the benefit of my Chimay glass, used prior and will continued to be used. I see a semi-opaque, light gold liquid with a nice cover of snow white foam. Whoa now, a good nose. A pleasant combination of juice, fruit, hops and grass. The taste is a bit off that. I get a firm hoppiness, melon, bread, oj and a distinct dryness. Not bad.

Jet brown with a decent light brown head. Woody, light roast peanuts and nutty. Roast peanuts and some chocolate.

Hints of coffee but the cold brew was on point, doesn't overpower the base stout at all, adds nice sweetness. Nice body. Nice nice! Slight roast dark chocolate goodness.

12 oz can from Total Wine, San Antonio, TX. Pours a clear mahogany color with a small beige head and good retention. Decent lacing. Dark roasted and nutty aroma. The taste follows the nose. Very dark roasted malts and roasted/smokey nuts flavor. Very clean and smooth. A little thin body. Lightly carbonated. Slightly sweet with no bitterness. One dimensional and very good.

12 oz can from Total Wine, San Antonio, TX. Pours a pitch black color with ruby highlights and a humongous light tan head and annoyingly great retention. WAY more foam than beer. Good lacing. Light aromas of roasted chocolate and peanut dust. The taste follows the nose. More roasted malts and chocolate flavor up front with a little peanut butter in the finish. Some sweetness, but not a dessert beer. Very smooth. Creamy mouthfeel. It has enough base stout flavor to be repeatable. Good beer.

We had a couple of nice visits to Panther Island while in Fort Worth while celebrating Thanksgiving. I bought a couple of beers to bring home and rate. Boreas was one of them. Curiously the beer was brewed before they had a label for the to-go can. No problem. For all the beers from Ft. Worth that I drink at home I use my Cowtown snifter, no departing from that strategy tonight. Tall boy can opened and pouring, I see a deep dark brown body with a mostly bare, light tan head. It has an interesting scent, a bit of chocolate and a good hit of berries. A nice representation of chocolate, wheat bread, strawberries and just a hint of ash. The effect is lighter than heavier. It all comes together. Good job.

Took me a while to figure out I had a different beer from the IPfnA already on RateBeer. A pint can purchased at the brewery a few weeks ago, cool label. To commemorate the event I have my snifter from nearby Cowtown Brewing out for this one. The pour is unusual, one of the darkest IPAs I have ever seen, a dark brown with gold around the edges. No head to speak of. The scent is unusual too, a touch of hops, booze, grain and honey. I lift the glass for a drink, bourbon, a little hops, a little grass, caramel and malt. Damn it, I like this. Reminds me of 120 Minute which took me somewhere I had never been before. This is like that. And the brewery is a nice place to visit too.

A 12 oz. cup from the tap at the brewery. It is a dark, dark red-amber in color and has a persistent ring of tan bubbles. There's a strong malt entry taste along with burnt pecans and medicine. It has a more pronounced and aggressive taste than your usual amber. Good.
