Dark reddish brown with a collapsing light moka head. Sweet caramel and prunes in aroma, lightly vinous. In mouth, sweet caramel, watery bodied, slight smokeyness noted, and signs of oxidation. Light bodied. Some metallic notes develop as beer warms.

An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is very light malty with a very faint hint of hops. The flavor contains lots of caramel on a rather sweet background, leading to an end with an OK hop presence, but since the body is watery thin, the hops more seem like covering up the thinness like in a low alcohol beer. A very boring beer.

Sampler from bottle at Binny’s, Orland Park, This must just now be appearing in America. A great pilsener malt color, to be sure. Like any imported light lager, I suspect a lot of the spicy hop oils have gone away. So I taste a balanced bitterness to the malts, but not much more. Guess it’s not fair to seek out good imported pilseners, but I’m still in the hunt.

Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. ABV was 5%, like the brewery website says. Very nice Saazer aroma, flowers and honey, some fruit too. Reasonably well balanced flavour with a tolerable maltiness and decent hops which linger through the aftertaste.

Draught at Christian Firtal, Odense. Dark ruby colour when held to the light. A bit fizzy. Moderate aroma of caramel malts. Flavour is moderately sweet with caramel and chocolate notes. Hints of blackcurrants. Some hops in the finish, more than in many other dunkels.
