Description
The Knoblach inn has been in Schammelsdorf since 1880 and it has been brewing there for about this long. Today Michael Knoblach is the resident master brewer. The Knoblachs are deeply rooted in their homeland and maintain good contact with regional suppliers and farmers. They attach great importance to preserving and actively promoting the diversity of the Bamberg region. For this purpose, the raw materials are, as far as possible, bought exclusively from the region. This not only has the advantage of boosting the domestic economy, but is also reflected in the quality. The ingredients couldn't be fresher.

Bottled on November 13, 2017. As a blind tasting. I think it was purchased at Landbierparadies, online shop.Clear red to brown color, tan head. At first some lemon like dish washing liquid scent, also grainy and some lemon fruit. After standing around a bit goes more towards hoppy, but those first couple of sniffs stuck with me. Malty, sweet, caramel taste, the hops in there comes through some. Medium mouthfeel, medium high CO2. Medium bitterness.5/4/5/3/10=2.7

November 16, 2017 - Bottle at L42 – thanks to Fergus. It pours clear gold with a medium white head. The aroma is bitter – sweet, biscuit, corn, sweaty, grainy, oiliness and rich teas. The taste is smooth, crisp, dryish, grassy, grainy, straw, soda water, cornbread, soap, leaf and buttered bread. Finish is sort of drying. Light – medium body and average carbonation. A pretty so-so lager bier. 2.7. re-visit Nov 21 due to low rate and the fact I enjoyed the draught version a good deal more. A lot cleaner and crispier this time round. Nice punchy level of grassy / leafy bitterness. No corn vibes to speak of. 3.5 this time round. Makes more sense.
