From the gravity barrel. Thick head. Fresh, fruity hops with a bready malt balance on the nose. Creamy body. Somewhat accented towards pale, slighlty mushroomy malts but also with fresh, fruity hops. Sweetish in the finish.

Huge off-white head over clear pale copper-amber beer. Fresh malts, bit grassy, some arachide (fatty acids), sunflower oil. Again arachide in the taste, very obvious. Malts, bit of caramel, slight grassy and herbal. Light body, bit creamy texture. Not quite as expected. No doubt infinitely better fresh on draught. All the same, big thanks to DonS! Earlier Rating: 9/19/2005 Total Score: 3 Draught Clear-amber; small but consistent yellowish head. Shy cookie-malts nose, (sweet) malts is all I get. Sweet cookie malts taste, retronasal some shy hops come peeping through. Light but not watery, gives a light "chew" in the background, making it allright on the palate. Maybe a reasonable Kellerbier, but slightly boring. There is MUCH better.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of dust, hops, and fruit. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of fruit and cardboard, leading to a dry bitter end. I find it boring.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. The beer tastes alcoholic, modest spicy and malty, the finish is much too sourish. Not a good bock!

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Angelo. Pours hazy golden yellow with a white head. Light yeasty and malty aroma with a light mouldy note and a light spiced hops note. Light citric and cornish flavoured with a nice crispiness to it. Light hoppy crisp finish. Nice one.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil - lightly hazy gold beer, with a small, fizzy head - fairly sweet aroma, with a little bit of herbal character - quite crisp, with strong noble hop bitterness - notes of cracked and toasted grains and a light nutty quality - refreshing and delicious.

Bottled. Clear bronze colour, near no head. Hay-like nose. Doughy and bready with soft but firm and chewy mouthfeel. Mild floral hops, growing late hay-like bitterness. Wonderfully well balanced. The malt character is just lovely - so much depth!

Draught at Café Abseits, Bamberg, Bavaria. Bronze colour, small creamy head. Dusty aroma. Dryish with some boiled vegetables and dense malt profile. Well light if flavour, and not as firm as I’d like it to be. Some late bitterness.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a medium-sized foamy white head. Sweet grainy and herbal, slightly flowery hoppy nose. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth, well-matured mouthfeel. Robust pale malty base with herbal hops giving a balancing amount of bitterness from the beginning. Quite bitter and herbal hoppy finish with a warming alcohol presence. Well-done (18.04.07).
