Black-brown with tan lace. Nose of cafe au lait, chocolate, light fruit like grapes. Roasty, woody, chocolate and coffee, nicely done. A bit fruity too.

Bottle. Wheaty, lemony nose, orange. Not much mint, if any, but a nice nose. Herbal and slightly minty flavor, wheat, citrus. Starts nice but the finish is devastatingly bitter and lasts forever.

Hiroshima Brewing Come! Come! Common California Common 4.2% Lovely clear gold with a rocky white dollop of foam. Bready sweet malty aroma but herbal bitter hop bite on first sip with a bit of a rough finish before you get the sweet malt character in the finish. I also get hints of tart vegetal notes which seem to be an off flavor, they’re almost imperceptible. Overall, an ok brew but too bitter for the style in my opinion.

Hiroshima Neighborly Fresh Hop Cold IPA 7% Matte deep gold with a similar rocky head of dense foam. The beer looks good and smalls of minty herbal hops at first but I then got a sourness. Cleansing my palate and going back for more I get this sour metallic funk I remember from when I home brewed. It’s low level but it’s there, for a brewery that seems so slick and put together online they should wipe out these off flavors. I’m not sure what the hell cold IPAs are supposed to be, this is my second. It comes off as an average to slightly below average brew. 715¥ for 280ml draft is a bit high when you can get their bottles 330ml for 660¥. I expected more, they’re a promising brewery but at the moment are a touch more style than substance.
