BOTTLE, as Kumpel India Pale Ale Black. Opaque deep brown, beige head. Nice balanced between grapefruit pith, and notes of chocolate. Same with the taste - pithy and easy drinking, just enough roast bitterness to balance. Rally well done.

Tap at Pub vs. Craft, Kiev. Clear dark chestnut, beige head. Light chocolate and a good deal of dank catty hops. Plain hoppy flavour, not much dark malts and a bit thinnish.

Butelka. Barwa pomarańczowa, piwo zmętnione. Piana drobnopęcherzykowa, trwała. W aromacie żywica i miód, a gdzieś pod spodem cytrusy. W smaku lekko miodowo słodkie, z wyczuwalnymi nutami żywicznymi. Goryczka z początku łodygowa, z czasem można się do niej przyzwyczaić. Wysycenie średnie, w ustach odczuwalna wyraźna pełnia i gładkość. Żałuję, że piwo swoje w transporcie przecierpiało i pewnie stąd ten miód. Zakładam, że nieutlenione mogło by być dobre.

Butelka. Niemalże czarne, nalewa się klarowne. Gigantyczna czapa piany, która nie znika do końca picia. Bardzo przyjemny aromat żywiczno-cytrusowy z dodatkową nutą brzoskwiniowo-mangową, pod którym czai się prażony słonecznik - tak dla mnie powinna pachnieć BIPA. W smaku bardzo wytrawne, dochodzą nienachalne nuty kawy. Goryczka wyraźna, dość wysoka i niestety dość długa. Ciała bardzo mało, uczucie wodnistości nieco psuje efekt. Najbardziej jednak psuje go ewidentne przegazowanie. Gdyby nie ono - ocena spokojnie doszła by do 4.

Butelka. Jasnozłote, idealnie klarowne. W aromacie bardzo niewiele, słabo wyczuwalne nuty nafty i ziołowo-trawiastego chmielu. W smaku wytrawne, z jakimś takim słodowo-nafcianym twistem, który nie za bardzo mi podszedł. Średnie wysycenie, goryczka średnia, lekko łodygowa, piwo bardzo wodniste. Kiepskie, choć obok fatalnego Zenka z Pravdy, piwo wieczoru.

Die Hausbrauerei Kumpel' in Lemberg besuchte ich bereits im Frühjahr 2013, was mein erster längerer Ukraine-Aufenthalt war. Ich war damals mit 2 Kumpels dort, wobei einer eigentlich die Biere bewerten wollte, aber dann die handschriftlichen Notizen versoff... Zwischenzeitlich wurde es ruhig um die Restaurant-Brauerei: DIe homepage ging offline und der "Ревізор" (Revisor) ein ukrainischer TV-Restauranttester gab aufgrund hygienischer Mängel eine schlechte Bewertung. Aber offenbar gibt es die Brauerei noch immer und das Bier findet man auch in anderen Landesteilen. Es wurde, wie der Name schon sagt, mit Citra-Hopfen gekocht, was man aber nicht wirklich merkt. Das Bier ist süßlich und hat einen buttrigen Abgang, der für ein Ale nicht passt. Ich würde es nicht empfehlen.

BOTTLE, 6% ABV. Hazy dark ruby, beige head. Super strong candied sugar, dark honey, candyish aroma, almost artificial, but not unpleasant. Medium to strong dark caramel sweetness, strong walnut skin bitterness. Intense taste, a little over the top.
