Description
A small independent brewery based in Northern Ireland with a belief in simplicity and a knack for brewing pretty good beer.

Like many good ventures, Modest Beer was born in a parent’s garage in Holywood, County Down when Chris Morris, a tax accountant by day, brewed a small experimental batch of Kölsch for a friend’s restaurant. Within two years we moved to a much larger brewery in Randalstown. We never set out to brew the best beer in Northern Ireland, but maybe someday we will.

Can from KWM Wines. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich tropical fruits, flowers, citrus, malt and hops. Nice fruity finish.

Can from the Vineyard, Belfast. Appearance - hazy yellow. Some actual hop bits in the can. Nose - light lemon or grapefruit. Taste - more citrus and pith. Palate - light bodied, fairly balanced bitterness. Overall - solid.

Can shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours murky yellow with some hop bits and a short-lived head. Aromas of light tropical fruit, citrus, a savoury note. Taste is a little thin, fruity. Thin finish.

Can from the Vineyard, Belfast. Appearance - cloudy yellow. Nicely proportioned head. Nose - a weird but intriguing combination of passion fruit and blackberry. Maybe even something minty going on. Taste - spearmint and berries again. Palate - creamy in texture, light to medium bodied. Dry, balanced finish. Overall - very good. Really interesting hop, this one!

Can from the Vineyard, Belfast. Appearance - cloudy yellow with a big fluffy head. Nose - stewed apple and maybe some gooseberry. Taste - gooseberry and apple again. Palate - light bodied, tangy middle and tangy finish. Overall - good.

Can from the Vineyard, Belfast. Appearance - cloudy yellow, with fairly generous head. Nose - overripe passion fruit, rhubarb jam and quince. Taste - apple jelly, more overripe tropical, maybe mango or guava this time. Palate - quite sweet up front, then decent balance on the finish.
