Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

My old man being a teetotaler, I'm always on the look for exciting alcohol-free beers, which is -let me tell you, a daunting task. But it looks like we have found something interesting here. Triple Zero stands for zero alcohol, zero calories and zero carbon footprint. This new version of old Ámbar 0,0 has just arrived, and they were giving it away for free at the Feria del Libro in Madrid's Retiro park, so I grabbed a couple and tried it out. I've also spotted it at Lambic's (Alcalá de Henares.) Here's what I found: A pale golden pour (not amber, despite the name of the beer) covered by an egg-white rocky head. Aroma is complex for a zero alcohol beer, displaying nice notes of coriander and lemon, bready malt and some grass. Dry and crisp, leading to a bitterish, medium-lasting finish. If you want an alcohol-free lager in Spain, I'd rather go for this one.
