RIVER RAT BREWERY RETURNS TO ITS ROOTS:
Five years ago, we opened our doors with a vision, a passion for craft beer, and a name we believed perfectly fit who we were: River Rat Brewery
Just prior to opening the doors to patrons, that dream hit an unexpected roadblock.
We received a cease-and-desist letter from another brewery that owned the trademark to the River Rat Brewery name. While it was disappointing, we respected the legal process and made the difficult decision to change our name to Gas City Brewing Co. Our dream didn’t change. Our commitment to our community didn’t change. But a piece of our identity had to be set aside.
We never forgot how we started.
When the other brewery eventually closed its doors, an opportunity presented itself. Rather than letting the River Rat name disappear, we purchased the trademark and brought it back home to where it rightfully belongs.
Today, we’re proud to announce that Gas City Brewing Co. is once again River Rat Brewery.
The River Rat has always represented resilience, hard work, and the spirit of the Mississinewa River that helped shape our community. It’s a name that reflects our hometown, our history, and the people who have supported us since day one.
To those who stood by us over the past five years whether family, friend or perfect strangers to our community-thank you from the bottom of our River Rat hearts!!
