On tap @ Jakobs Café & Bar in Skagen. Cloudy orange (or pale amber as the name says). Medium strong aroma of brown malt, toast, fruity yeast and mild caramel. Flavor is medium sweet malt, toffee, fruity yeast and moderate bitterness. Medium body and smooth aftertaste. Quite balanced and tasty, a fine accomplish to my burger. I originally asked for the dark one, as this was empty I picked the pale amber and was positively surprised. Expecting something rather blend as a deep golden lager with lots of caramel, this was a nice, tasty and fruity ale. Nothing extraordinary really, but sure a decent choice as a classic beer for a nice burger.

Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, little wood, vanilla, dark fruits, rum, light tobacco, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, little bitter, malty, caramel, little dark chocolate, wood, little cedarlike, tobacco, little spicy, vanilla, rum, dried fruit, boozy. Medium body, average carbonation, dry finish with warming alcohol. Feels stronger than the 9 % ABV listed, and also a bit light bodied for a beer of that strenght. 161016

Vintage 2008. 250mL bottle, pours a motor oil black with a tiny head. Nose brings out lots of soy sauce, oxidation, dark fruits and liqueur. Flavour is actually pretty good for being so old, with soy sauce, some dark cocoa, dark fruits and a touch of roast. Very well-balanced and complex. Surprisingly nice for such age and oxidation.
