2012-05-31, bottle from the brewery, plastic cork, purchased Oct 2011, bb 30.06.12, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Cloudy amber color, small head. Mild aroma of fruity hops and malt. Good malt and hop flavor, moderately sweet, with some fruity touch and quite storng bitterness, but less than it used to be.
It’s losing power, but it’s still a very enjoyable Double IPA.

Muddy dark amber color; the bottle opens without sound, and indeed the head is small, but persistent. The aroma is nice: fruity hops, some yeast, bitter orange peel, dried apricots, lightly soapy. Sweetish flavor, probably top fermentation; malty, with some sweet caramel; fruity, from the hops and from orange peels; strong bitterness. Light yeast. Rough, unprecise, but the effort is appreciated.

Hazy golden to light amber color. The aroma is fading away, with light vanilla and fruit jam. The flavor is also mellowing, with sweetish malt and jab, apricots, a touch of citrus; correct bitterness.
A good beer, but now losing power.

Hazy, or cloudy, light amber color, with medium sized creamy head. Very nice, deep yet delicate hop aroma, like a lemon tart, some vanilla. Round and strong body; sweetish malt flavor, less German and crispy than the Amarillo Strong Ale (but still with a background of that crispness), also a bit sweeter; strong hopping, giving the right amount of bitterness and very nice fruity character, tropical fruits; pleasant alcohol warmth, well blended together.
Less emotional than the Amarillo Strong Ale, but excellent as well.

2012-05-31, bottle from the brewery, plastic cork, purchased Oct 2011, 10.3% ABV, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Dark color, almost black. Mild hop aroma, some fruits. Good body strength, good chocolate flavor, with some roasted malt, some hop resins and mild orange presence. Still strong bitterness, and comforting alcohol warmth in the final.
The hop is probably fading away, but the chocolate flavor is getting more complex, and it’s very appealing overall.
2011-09-16, bottle from the brewery, Zork Cork, purchased June 2011, 10.2% ABV, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Dark brown color, with small head. The aroma is quite nice, with some roasted and dusty malts, and some hop, but less than expected. Good body strength (stronger than the Amarillo, for example), with strong and very pleasant caramel flavor, good as Germans can in the fine Doppelbocks, nice sweetness compound, and quite some resiny hops, although this beer shines more for the nice use of dark malts than for the hops; the alcohol perception is also very low.
Very good.

Cloudy light amber color. The aroma is fruity, full, delicate, fresh, leaning on the jam side, then some resins and sweat. Good body, but as in the character of Häffner it’s leaner, cleaner, much more drinkable than conventional crystal malt loaded Double IPAs; good malt flavor, almost crispy, with a very good fruity hopping; moderate sweetness in the final, and pleasant alcohol warmth.
Excellent.

Blond color with creamy head. The aroma is nice and delicate, with some crispy malt and delicate hops. The flavor is simple, there is some malt, with accents of straws; the mouthfeel is dry; the bitterness is correct, but it lacks of some hop quality, ther eis just a faint grassy touch.
Quite good, probably would express itself better from tap.

Light blond color. Light aroma of paper and fruity hops. The flavor reminds me of the Citra Ale, just with less fruity hops and with some more spiciness. Lean Ale. The final is a bit shorter than expected, and this is really a pity in this beer.

Hopfig getreidiger Beginn. 9/9/9/6/9/9

A cloudy, slightly orange colour beer with a almost medium and white head. Very fresh, slightlly tropical fruity aroma, lychee, mangos and some pine needles. Taste is grainy and quite dry, some fruits, lychee. Medium- bodied, light to drink, but that fitts nicely into this fresh beer. If you like a Citra, then you will like this beer also, fresh and easily enjoyable beer to relaxed atmosphere.
