12 oz can from Total Wine - San Antonio. Pours a hazy gold color with a white head and good retention. Good lacing. Light bread aroma. Stronger bread flavor than the aroma. Not sweet or bitter. High carbonation. Light body. Fairly basic blonde ale. Nothing special, nothing bad.

12 oz. can from Total Wine-San Antonio, TX. Pours a pale straw yellow color with a large white head and very good retention. Fair lacing. Typical pale malt aroma, but with an odd yeast smell too. The flavor follows the nose: Generic pale malt flavor up front with a strange light hefe-like yeasty finish that doesn't fit the style. Clean and smooth. No bitterness. Light carbonation and body. Okay.

12 oz can from Total Wine - San Antonio. Pours a clear dark mahogany color with a large beige head and good retention. Good lacing. Nutty aroma. Great roasted malts and nutty brown ale. Smooth and clean. Medium body. Low carbonation and low bitterness. Great example of the style. Well done.

A 12 oz can coming from a friend over the holidays. I am using my Buffalo Bayou snifter for a sampling this evening. The arrival is an inviting mahogany brown with a thin top of medium tan foam. The nose is decent also, chocolate, berries and grain. I take a drink and get dark chocolate, a bit of char, wheat bread, black licorice and straw. Thinner than I prefer in an imperial stout with a some bitterness. Okay at best.

A 12 oz can of Light Ale was given to me by a friend who occasionally does this favor. The beer is cold and I have a lightly cooled shaker glass prepared to receive. I see a straw yellow liquid with a light but steady head of completely white, small bubbles. Nice carbonation. The drink is a bit of a surprise, more depth to the mouth effect than expected. And the taste is decent if inoffensive, a bit of lemon, grain, cereal, a small hint of hops and spring water. Better than any of the mega-brewers light beers.

Taste at Tapwerks. Pours a clear, ruby-tinted, black color, with a small, bubbly, beige head. The aroma is espresso, banana candy, molasses, and cherry. Sweet and thin, with a boozy finish. Oddly estery and strange, but I like it.
