Drygate is the UK’s first experiential craft brewery. Opened in June 2014, Drygate is a brand new brewery nestled in the historic east end of Glasgow, close to Tennents Brewery and Glasgow Cathedral. Brewing has been taking place continuously in this area since the 16th century.

On cask at the Bow Bar. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - earthy and orangey. Taste - dry biscuits with oranges following it through. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - a good example of the style.

Bottle shared at Craig’s. Pours hazy yellow with a creamy white head. The aroma holds oily pine, a bit of citrus. Medium sweet flavor, very oily and sticky, with ripe tangerine, melon. Medium bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet and sticky with further ripe, gooey citrus fruits, resinous pine and white bread. Not especially graceful.

Cask at Bow Bar - Edinburgh. Pours clear Amber-gold with w creamy off-white head. The aroma holds leafy hops and dried berries. Light sweet flavor with restrained bitterness, some melon, orange rind, more dried berries, wood and leaves, very faint grass and pine. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Light resinous hops on the finish, further dried berries and citrus, wood and leaves. Not bad. Easy drinking with nice hop edge.

Bottle thanks to John. Appearance - golden amber with a nice head. Nose - caramel and lemon and grapefruit. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - solid but not amazing.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Murky amber/brown body with a thin off-white head. Light lacing. Aroma of toffee apple, honey and a hint of marzipan. Flavour of toffee and crystal malt. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. A simple Amber Ale - I was hoping for more from this.

Hazy golden beer with a light, citrus-sweet aroma. Flavour is light, bitter with some sharp hop, tangy fruit on the tongue and an airy, floral feel in the mouth. It’s not anything remarkable but it’s very drinkable indeed.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Gusher. Murky golden body with a thick white head. Lively carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma of papaya, green apple and custard creams. Flavour of papaya, pineapple yoghurt, wheat and faint peppery finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Light fizz. Does what it says on the tin, but the papaya flavour gets a bit tiresome by the end of the bottle.
