Description
River City Brewing Company opened in 1993 in the heart of downtown Sacramento. We are the oldest brew pub in Sacramento still operating. In 2015 River City moved to Carmichael CA to begin a new and exciting chapter.

River City prides itself on only using the finest ingredients when brewing and always source local ingredients when possible. Our brewer Ben Barker started with River City in 1995 to 1999 and returned in 2013. His commitment to this craft, shows in his beers.

River City always sources from local farms when possible. We receive produce orders every day to ensure the freshest product always goes out on our plates. We change our menu three times a year to make sure we are always serving what is in season.

It’s baaaack!!!! And apparently improved. Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours light amber with a creamy white head. Aroma seems floral/citrus. Med body. It has a hop bite. Flavor is floral/citrus over caramel. that goes a bit toffee with time. Malt not so roasty as some APAs, which seems to be a good thing here. Nice.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours orangey copper with an off-white creamy head. Aroma seems medicinal. Near full bodied. Flavor is many things - light phenol, nuts, caramel. Body thins rapidly. There wasn’t much detectable hop initially, but now it’s getting somewhat bitter. Arguably earthy. Strange, but tasty.

On tap at River City. Herbal, pine dank dominates. Clear orange with a white head that remains and laces down the sides. Dank, slight citrus. Massive bitterness detracts from beer. Slightly oxidized. Astringent finish.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours ruddy dark brown. Beige head. Aroma of brown sugar and resin/citrus hop. Flavor is sweet malt/brown sugar with just a bit of earthiness - with some warming wheat, and nearly enough hop to fight the malt. Seems bitter in the finish.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours very hazy orange with a creamy near-white head. Fruity aroma. Med body, almost. Mild carb. Flavor of light pitted fruit, apricot seems to fit in, soft, fairly lush. It’s fruity, lightly floral, and moderately bitter. Delicious. Cask is just wonderful.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours black with a foamy dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and really dark malt. Med body. It has a smooth milk chocolate aspect - with slightly harsh burnt malt. The minimal coffee seems to carry a touch of cinnamon/spice. Nice. Easy drinking. Tasty.
